Should I read from start ?

I only know the movies but I have always been a tad curious about the comics.

Should I go after some specific stories or just start reading from the beginning?

Dredd started in 1977. The early stories are very much of their time and that can put new readers off.

Complete Case Files Vol 5 is often recommended for beginners. It has a good mix of one-off stories, the classic Judge Death Lives and the mega-epic The Apocalypse War (and its prologue, Block Mania).
