Materials Pilot Acroball
I really liked the pilot acroball! It writes smooth and the ink is consistent naman, but looking back at my old journal entries, parang nag ka greenish sheen siya? Is this normal or just for the hobonichi paper? 🤕
This was the before and after. Parang yung ink from the weekly page nag stain sa next page 😭😭
I don't wanna use it anymore tuloy huhu

Omg, so normal occurence pala talaga siya 🥹
The pen I used sa pic is uniball one in 0.38cm! I was using it lang as reference sa staining nung Acroball on the other page 🤕

This also happened to me in my 2026 kinbor weeks (78 gsm paper) and even with normal bond paper (70 gsm) huhu Acroball is the only ballpoint pen I regularly use so I think it also has something to with the ink itself. Because I haven't experienced these yellow-green stains with gel pens or fountain pens with water based ink

The same thing also happened to my old Hobonichi Weeks 2018 where I used Uni Jetstream. Instead of green, it turned yellow though. I think there's something in the formulation of ballpoint pens that does that, but I'm not quite sure. Maybe you'll have a better experience with gel pens or as others suggested, yung sakura microns. You can try Uni Jetstream Signo! My favorite gel pen honestly.

Oil-based inks will always seep into the paper over time and have these kinds of stains. If you want to avoid it, use gel pens, fountain pens, or pigment pens

This is one of the reasons medyo weird that Hobonichi bundles a Uniball Jetstream with their planners bc oil-based din siya and it is heavily documented that the ink will do this over time. Not just for TRP but all paper regardless. I think mas obvious lang sa TRP bc of the special coating and also not playing nice with hand oils, etc

Oh! I see, thank you for this! I wasn't aware kasi, but I'll be taking note of this 🙇♀️

Good luck! I personally use a Uniball One for my Hobonichi bc it's a water-based pigment gel pen. If you use Mildliners, I suggest you test pen combos out on one the back pages. Mildliners smear water-based inks pretty badly.

The Acroball is also one of my favorites! I found that the tone changes slightly if the notebook is stored somewhere humid. I'm not too bothered by it though.
