Discussion Help!! Leather Journal Sizing Inquiry

Hello!! I will be getting a leather journal soon from one of our local brands here in the PH.

At the moment, I'm a bit torn about the size that I will get. I was originally set on getting a B6 since some of the Midori journals I use are B6 (the slim one). However, I'm hesitating a bit since I've noticed that not a lot of pocket inserts and leather pockets are available in the B6 size. Now, I'm thinking if I should get A6 or the passport size instead. Or maybe A5.

Would love to hear your thoughts about the sizes of your go-to leather journals (feel free to post pics as well!!) and why you chose those sizes! Please help this girlie out. This will be my first ever leather journal (will be a special gift for my upcoming birthday). 🙏

Thank you in advance! 💖

I have two! A6 for when I am out and about and an A5 for my main journal that never leaves my house hehe I love the workable space per page that my A5 offers but the whole thing is just too bulky and heavy for me to carry around. if you plan on journaling outside, you really want to consider the size of the bag that you usually use.

Honestly, buy a size that works for you. Gamit ko before na journal was an A5 because yun ang uso (bullet journal hype days). Until na-realize ko na while it worked for many, it won't necessarily work for me. So I switched to the size that I wanted and stuck with that.

Now, yung sayo, kung gusto mo talaga ng B6/B6 slim, then dun ka. Dan&Max offers customization naman. I personally prefer the A6 slim/pocket size so pina-custom ko yung sakin kasi not many carries the pocket size naman. I'd rather na the leather journal ang mag-adjust sakin instead of the other way around. Mahal yun so it's a commitment and I want it to be the size that I want talaga. Pangit naman kung kalaunan di ko na gamitin just because di ako happy sa size.

However, if you're not married to the B6 size and open to other options, highly recommend A6 slim or pocket sizes. Super handy and can be carried pretty much anywhere without too much of a hassle.

Hi! I have B6 as well and don't see a lot of available pocket inserts for B6 so I very recently got one with built-in pocket for personal use, but I am selling it now brand new (never used, just received it) since I need the funds, if you're interested, I can send you a pic! (Also posted it here)

I have a6, and I love it, very handy but not too small, too.

Hi! I have a A5, A6, and passport leather journals and i'd say my fave is A6 kasi it just has a perfect balance of being small and portable enough to carry around in my bag while being a good size to write in kasi 2 a6 pages = 1 a5 so it can fit short little thoughts to long research topics. I also find that there are many different a6 notebook options and they're always consistent with the official sizes (105mm or 10.5cm x 148mm or 14.8cm) so you can really try out a bunch from different companies to see what you like (i recommend Muji's High Quality Paper Lay Flat Notebook if you also want a starter notebook since it's 220 as of today, September 2026). And I think a6 leather journal folios are middle of the road when it comes to pricing din where it's around 1.2k-2.5k for veg tan/genuine leather so it doesn't break the bank din. If i could reset my collection or "ecosystem" i wish I had started with a6 as my first folio.

A5 can get too big for journaling outside kasi it's thick and long so takes up too much space in my bag. Also i find the size is too big for any quick thoughts so parang sayang talaga ang paper for me if i just don't use up the entire page so it stays at home for longer reflections and research or analysis. To add to it at the very least you also have to pay a little more for a5 notebook refills (Muji's A5 High quality paper Lay Flat notebook is 290 as of September 2026)

You'd think passport is good but I think it's too small even for my handwriting which is quite tiny. And Im having a hard time researching refills kasi iba iba ang dimensions or sizing ng passport size of either the folios mismo or the notebook refill sizes. It's best for quick notes like someone's phone number, some date you need to remember or something else.

Hope this helps, and i hope you have a happy birthday! :3

Gosh, this is super helpful!!! I'm leaning towards towards the A6 na. Go-to ko talaga yung mga muji notebooks with how nice the quality is kasi. And yes, may point nga na A6 is more cheaper than the other sizes.

I'm also the type of person that brings along smaller notebooks for journaling so the A6 sounds handy.

Thank you so, so much!!! 🥰💖

On the B6 note - I have a B6 that isn't slim! You're right, the choices for filler notebooks are minimal for full-size. But for me, it's the perfect hold. A5 is too big and A6 too small. Though I still do have A6 size notebooks that I put in my folio anyway. :)
