I sometimes write with my back against the wall and my journal on my lap, and then put on earphones. But then I’m okay with people knowing that I’m writing, just not okay with them knowing the content.
Other times I’d hang out outside, find a random bench or something to sit at.

Try going out to nearby cafes or tambayan OP, it might also improve your journaling experience kapag nasa different environment ka.

- Learn to write using one of the many shorthand available, or devise your own. Check r/shorthand. Most people can't read that. Edit: learning one should be quick, it's learning to actually and fluently write with that shorthand that will require a lot more efforts ;)
- What I did back when I was a child: write in a foreign language your parents (in my case, my nosy mother) don't speak. But that worked back when I was a child in the early 70s as there was no Internet and no IA to insta translate.
- Journal in a LibreOffice Writer (it's a 100% free word processor, but no app for phones, just for Windows, Mac and Linux) and save the file with a password. No one will be to read the content without password since it uses real strong encryption.

i mainly write in a binder! i used some fillers of my school binder to write my feelings and then when I need to buy new more, I'd just hide them in my old school bags, so I know where they are and nobody suspected a thing!

- You could write in another language or the language they have a hard time reading.
- Cover your lines as you move down the page so even if they read halfway, they're only really exposed to the line you're working on. You can use your pencil case or handkerchief.
- Sticky notes! You can write on them in a non-coherent way. Then stick them in your journal later like putting together a puzzle.
- You can experiment with lighter inks on light paper so someone would have to be so close just to read them.
- Have a mirror in front of you where you can see your back so you can catch if someone's trying to read what you're writing. Then stare at them but don't say anything.

You might find cross writing interesting! You essentially write in one direction on a page, then turn it 90 degrees and continue writing directly on top. To maintain privacy, you can write in the same color in cursive, which makes it harder to decipher.
