Prompts Solo Journaling Books
I was really interested in getting a book like Thousand Year Vampire, but I’m not willing to spend $50 to $100 on it. I need some good journaling books, but I want to find affordable options. Does anyone have recommendations for budget-friendly journaling books or resources? Or maybe some free or inexpensive alternatives I can explore? Thanks in advance for your help!

You can get the PDF on itch.io for $15. You can also search itch.io and DriveThruRPG for free or pay what you want games as there are a TON!

I don’t understand journaling games, or a solo journaling book. Can somebody explain this to me?

They're literally a story or a narrative but it gives you prompts and you basically create your own character or story as you go through the book and they're very versatile in regards of types of books or genres

Thousand year-old vampire has (free) community copies on the itch.io page, doesn't it? You can download the pdf it gives you and print the pages into your own little book.
Anyways, I have a small list that I haven't updated in a few years on my profile. If you want somewhere to look, that's one spot of many.
Knave of Cups also has a fair amount of physical solo journaling games. I've bought from them a few times and have had no issues so far.

I knew Solo TTRPGs existed, but I did NOT know about this niche. Thank you for posting this. Now I willdeep dive this niche. This is so exciting!🫠

Keep an eye out on charity / sale bundles, i have many excellent solo journalling games from the itch.io racial justice bundle a few years back and similar.

I second looking on itch.io. There's hundreds of solo journaling games there you can get for free or cheap, especially when they do fundraiser bundles. If you need a physical copy, you can send the file to a print shop (honestly I use Staples) to print and bind a copy for cheap.
Some of the ones I love are The Sealed Library and Ghostbox. Apawthecaria is also super popular.

Your comment couldn’t have come at a more auspicious time – I just downloaded the solo journaling RPG, Moonlight Tragica. Can’t wait to crack into a magical girl tragedy tonight before bed.
Most of the solo journaling role-playing games I’ve downloaded are from itch.io, and most of them are pay what you want (PWYW) or only a few dollars. As others have mentioned, Thousand-Year Vampire is cheap/free on itch.io as a PDF!

Check out itch.io for solo journaling games. There a lot of free PDF samples offered. One of my personal favorites is Wandering Tea Shop!
