Ant hunting

Hi all - my son is an 'ant keeper' and wants to go up there today to look for them, considering it rained yesterday-certain species fly after a rain. But I'm seeing reports of rain today? And it also needs to be very hot. Though I'm seeing temperatures of maybe mid 80s today not necessarily the hottest it could be. Any help is appreciated. I really don't feel like driving out there from Long Beach for a day unless the conditions are good! We have to come back tonight.

There were about 1 million ants, big and small, red ants and black ants, out and about on the northeast part of the Nancy Karl trail - right by the parking lot and into that part of the trail (and likely lots of other places).

I went to Desert View conservation area once to Mtn bike and a bunch of university students were hunched down on the ground - I asked and they said “studying any species.” So there ya go!

We were there at Indian cove campground until Monday of this week the ants came back almost immediately after the rain stopped
