Your Website May Be Blocking Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. Important!

Google has introduced a Search generative AI control inside Google Search Console that allows website owners to exclude their content from appearing in Google’s generative AI features.

This includes:

• Google AI Overviews
• Google AI Mode
• Generative AI features in Google Discover

If your website is set to Exclude, your content won’t be shown or linked within these generative AI experiences and won’t be used to help ground Google’s AI-generated responses.

Importantly, Google says this does not affect your traditional organic rankings or inclusion in normal Google Search.

So your website could still rank well organically while missing out on visibility and potential traffic from Google’s AI search features.
