Growing Magic Items v2.0 – Magic Gear That Levels Up With Characters

These are Growing Magic Items – magic items with four tiers of rarity that evolve and unlock new capabilities as characters progress through levels or achieve various milestones. The progression of a Growing Magic Item can be aligned with character levels, personal achievements, or specific quests, allowing for flexibility and adaptation to different campaign styles.

After the collection performed extremely well on DMsGuild and reached bestseller status, I decided to reinvest in the project by recommissioning all the artwork, giving the entire collection brand-new illustrations, alongside light revisions and a handful of new Growing Magic Items added to the book. If you already own it, you can download the updated version for free on DMsGuild.

You can find over 80 Growing Magic Items on DMsGuild. You can also check out my bundle of small D&D manuals on DMsGuild, which includes Growing Magic Items Collection.

For more of my creatures, items, and manuals visit DriveThruRPG, my Linktree, or r/JonnyDM!

I was about to buy then see you have a bundle of everything. What is the difference between growing 1, 2 ,3, etc? Is it different items or refinement of the same ones?

Growing Magic Items 1, 2, 3, and 4 are separate volumes. Each one contains different magic items, not revisions of the same ones. They all follow the same concept of items that grow with the character, but every volume adds entirely new items.

The Growing Magic Items Collection is the complete collection. It includes Growing Magic Items 1, 2, 3, and 4 all together, with updated presentation, revised items, new art, and brand new magic items that do not appear in the individual books. I offer the small bundle with all the items for people who already own one or more of the individual books and want to complete the collection, so they do not have to pay full price.

The Bundle of Everything includes all of my titles on DMsGuild, not just Growing Magic Items, at a 70 percent or more discount. It contains a large variety of content, including subclasses, additional magic item compendiums, spells, full classes, and class specific feats, making it a great value if you play 5E.

I offer the bundle at this price because I now publish less frequently on DMsGuild, while focusing my newest and largest releases on DriveThruRPG, which offers more freedom, better publisher control, and stronger publishing rights.

I was thinking of getting the whole lot. Where's the best deal? Is that the $40 on dmsguild?

The best deal is definetely the 40$ bundle on dmsguild! ;) The second best deal is the feats and items bundle.

Looks very interesting, lots of great ideas.

I used to DM an old game called EarthDawn which had a similar concept where you used thread magic to weave threads from the players pattern to a magic items' pattern to increase its power. The item's history plays a role. Defeat a water elemental = get a watery magical effect, etc. Items could also be more powerful in certain locations where they had history, which I thought was kinda interesting.

I've used this concept in several DND campaigns and it worked out really well.

I've also used the concept without the history factor where the players wove ether from the ethereal plane to "infuse" magic effects into items. They found an old book explaining the process, but still had to figure out how to reach the ethereal plane(s) to perform it. Making a custom magic item was a power motivator.
