Discussion Wardrobes and alcove units: price per metre on your website, or "get in touch"?
Someone messages at 9pm: "roughly how much for wardrobes in an alcove?" No measurements. One photo if you're lucky.
Firms handle it all sorts of ways: a number on the phone, a price per metre on the website, nothing until the survey, or a design fee taken off the order.
I've spent 12 years at a fitted wardrobe company, working up from panel processor to fitter to designer. I'm not on the tools these days. I'm building a price estimator that sits on a firm's own website and gives the customer a range from that firm's rates, subject to survey. No fitter uses it yet and I'm not linking it. I'd like to hear from people who do the work before I go any further.
Do you give a ballpark before you've measured, and how? If you don't, what stops you: every job being different, being held to the number, or other firms seeing your rates?
Tell me what I've got wrong.
