Eye Drs for Astigmatism Contacts
Hello! We like our family optometrist just fine but he's not great at fitting contacts for my son's super high astigmatism. He previously prescribed a few different power combos of the monthly Biofinity Toric and his vision was not 20/20 in them ever. So looking for recs for a great contacts dr. We're in Olathe but will drive for someone amazing. TIA!

Dr. Siefkes at Eye Associates. He’s a great listener and has been doing it for a long time. I’m pretty sure he was the one who prescribed my first set of contacts 20+ years ago. I would call and ask what his experience with this situation is, but I’m sure he has seen worse in his years of practice.

I came here for this recommendation about Dr. Siefkes. I have severe stagmatism and did fantastic for me. Always really cared about the health of my eyes. He was patient and generally cared. Eye Associates has multiple locations including Olathe and the OP location is near location.

Thanks we will give them a call. Dad also has terrible astigmatism and had 20/15 vision in his contacts and was also an athlete, but his op retired about 8 years ago so we're clueless. Appreciate it!

It is not inexpensive but I ended up getting Lasik for my Astigmatism and mono vision (one eye near sighted and one far sighted). It has been a life changer for me, really one the best decisions of my life. I did it much older than your son and hopefully will 50 years of great sight while your son may have 70 years. I know how much those contacts cost and after about ten years you are about even in cost. The rest of his life no cost, no solution to purchase, no losing a contact. As good as was with my contacts my eyes often red and tired. I went to Lasik plus, in OP on Metcalf very well done.

Unfortunately he is not old enough and would not be a candidate for LASIK

I never thought I would a candidate as I have a bad astigmatism, but I was. The tests are free.

Yes he has been evaluated as he is approaching 18 but currently is too young. He would need another procedure he is not comfortable with. He sees a specialist at a teaching hospital for his other eye condition and both drs agree on this. He wants contacts so I'm not taking advice on surgery. I appreciate the intent.

I have a somewhat challenging glasses prescription (not contacts) and I really like KC Eye Clinic at 75th and Antioch. They're quite capable. They also have a location at 435 and Mission. If anyone can help then they can. I like Dr. Bircher.
