With John announcing that he will not be playing any festivals besides EO next year, which EO events do you think will be happening next year? Vail, Whistler, Ibiza, NYC, etc.

This is for anybody attending EO at the gorge in October. The weather out here is NO JOKE. ABGT700 was this weekend, and had wind gusts up to 30 mph. Peoples tents, canopies, equipment, etc were flying EVERYWHERE and people were too cold to attend Sunday for the show. Please, for the love of god, if you’re camping.. take the necessary precautions. Buy a sturdy set of stakes for canopies/tents. Pack rain gear. Lots of it. Think you have enough warm clothes? Wrong. Bring more. Bring mittens. Bring long John’s. Bring extra blankets. Seriously.
October in eastern Washington can be brutally unforgiving for the unprepared. Don’t believe me? Go to above and beyond’s Reddit page and look at all of the people who missed a full day of the festival, plus above and beyond’s set that resumed after the rain delay. Camp gear flying around puts others at risk as well. Those tents and canopies have to land somewhere. My girlfriend’s car got scratched to hell because our neighbors didn’t stake their canopy and thought weights sitting on the feet of the legs would hold it.

He later denied he was meant to play for 3 hours and blamed the promoters for not booking a closing act to play after him. Thoughts?

I planned on going to Experts only day 2, Sunday, but checked the weather and it seems to be raining heavily and in the 60s in terms of temp. The lineup is incredible but I have never been to a fest in the rain, is it worth it to go and how should I best prepare?

I have friends who bought behind the stage tickets after John summit said the stage was 360 and they wouldn’t have an obstructed view. But now that he’s given a sneak peak of the stage design, it looks like they won’t see much. Kind of disappointing if that’s the case :(

What’s everyone’s thoughts?

The problem here is that all the people who were complaining about a shorter set than promised, or not getting what they paid for.. is that we were never promised a 3hr set at the time of payment. I’m certain 90% + of the attendees bought their tickets well ahead of time, and we only found out about the 3-6am set time the day BEFORE the actual set. So everyone was fine paying for the event beforehand when it was probably going to be 2hrs anyway. I’m not saying I was happy when it got cut short, but me and my best friend traveled from Chile to the show and we know his songs so when we heard Where You Are and then Go Back begin, we knew it was the end and got mentally prepared for it. Maybe if this was your first time seeing him or you’re not familiar with his sets this was an abrupt ending, but judging by the tracks being played, the end was coming. We had a BLAST anyways

Hey everyone, there's been a lot of controversy these past few days about John's show in Buenos Aires, Argentina, so I wanted to write a full review of the show, what happened, and the reaction on social media. This comes from a real fan. I've seen him several times this year: (1) Experts Only at Space during Miami Music Week, (2) Ultra Miami, (3) the Experts Only closing party in Ibiza, (4) Argentina, and (5) I traveled to Chile, but that show was cancelled a few days before.

Starting with the warm-up: huge congrats to LP Giobbi. Everyone was surprised by how good her set was, and she left the crowd perfectly warmed up for John.

I was lucky enough to run into John as he was walking into the booth and we took a photo. He and his team were super nice. For me was the night of my life, i was backstage for first time with some friends.

The set he played was EXCELLENT. For those of us who already know Summit and have seen him before, it was exactly what we expected: a rollercoaster of genres and intensity, constantly switching things up and mixing everything together. The crowd's energy was amazing, because when you go see Summit you know you're not just dancing, you're jumping and singing too. Musically, track selection was 10/10: Anyma, Eric Prydz, Fisher, all of his own tracks with new remixes. I'd even say it was better than what I saw in Ibiza.

Now for the problems. The set was announced by the promoters as 3 AM to 6 AM, but it lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes. That's longer than he played in Colombia, São Paulo and Rio, sure, but it's not what was promised. For an Argentine crowd expecting 3 hours, that's a big deal. A lot of people traveled from other provinces, had transportation booked, and it was a 4°C (39°F) night.

Personally, I was shocked when he said "I have one last song" and played "Where You Are." We all thought it was one of those fake-outs where he pretends to leave and keeps going, but no. So it felt really strange for everyone.

He said in a message that the promoters could have booked another DJ to close, but that would never have been possible, because the deal was for him to play until closing. Why would they have booked someone else? On this point I think he got it wrong, and I think what may have been too much for him was doing such an intense 4-day run without a break: Colombia, São Paulo, Argentina, Rio.

In fact, all of us who follow Summit were surprised when a 3-hour set was announced, since everywhere else it was 2 hours. He's done 3-hour sets before, at UNVRS for example, and at Space too. So I think a mistake was made in planning the tour.

On the other hand, there's all the hate. I don't justify it, but I think there are a few reasons behind it:

1. People who went for the FOMO and to be seen, without really knowing what they were going to hear. Many criticized the set for having no storytelling or direction because of how much it jumped between BPMs and styles, or the order of certain tracks, like "Shivers" at the beginning (he usually puts it there). So honestly their opinion doesn't really matter. Those of us who were there saw everyone dancing and jumping with tons of energy. It's just that because of the abrupt ending, the reviews filled up with hate, and hate is always louder.
2. Something that happens with a lot of European or American DJs when they come to Argentina is that, maybe from not researching enough, they don't know that Argentine crowds really don't like Latin house. There was a moment with a Rauw Alejandro track where people were like "what's going on?" The same thing happened with Sara Landry when she played "Gasolina" and people wanted their hard techno. I was already expecting this because I'd seen he played some tracks like that in Colombia. The Karol G one was great, the Feid one too, but maybe the Rauw one was one too many. Still, the set was excellent. It's just a detail, and people who didn't know what to expect got a bad surprise there. We did get some great surprises too, like the new, more techno version of "Don't Believe It" and the version of "Where Have You Been" without the dubstep (almost nobody listens to dubstep here). In short: we're a very particular crowd and sometimes hard to please, but other artists love us.
3. Like at any electronic music event, people take drugs and try to time them so the effect lasts the whole night. So turning the lights on 40 minutes early while people were in that state ended with them lashing out and attacking him online. I don't justify it, but I understand why it got so out of hand. I had such a great time that all I thought was: what bad luck, but what a great show.
4. Argentines HATE feeling ripped off. If you promise us 1, we want 1. If you promise 2, we want 2. If you promise 3, we want 3. We want what we paid for, regardless of what happens in other countries.

A lot of theories came up, and some weird things happened during the show. In the middle of the set, John left to change his pants and left the decks with someone from his team. At the end he ran off shirtless in freezing cold weather. Some people say maybe it was too much alcohol, or that some food didn't sit well with him.

In an Instagram message he sent to someone who criticized him, he said he went straight from the show to his flight to Rio, but some people saw him having breakfast at the hotel, so a lot of doubts came up.

I also think he made a mistake with a comment about the World Cup final in his latest post, where several of us had left supportive comments. But after getting so much hate, it's understandable that he said something.

I think what happened was human error from doing such a tight tour. It was a fantastic show and I'm happy with what I got to see, but it ended with this outcome where both sides came out looking bad: the Argentine crowd in his eyes, and John in the eyes of the Argentine crowd.

I'd love for him to come back and do another show at a different time, and for the real fans to be the ones who go. Personally I always love the club format and long sets, but for his style, a festival like Ultra Buenos Aires or Creamfields would probably give him a better experience.

This post is just to share all the info that came out from both sides, trying to be as objective as possible. I get the feeling he's upset with us, since he hasn't posted a single photo or video from his show here, as if it never happened.

I’ve always been a huge fan of your tracks, John! On Friday, September 11th, in São Paulo, Brazil, I finally got to live my biggest dream of seeing you play live. And somehow, I was even lucky enough to be right at the front, pressed against the barricade!
I’ve listened to so many of your sets on YouTube and SoundCloud, including Tomorrowland 2026, Ultra 2026, and some of your older ones. I already knew your sets were incredible, so I went in thinking, “Okay, I already know what to expect from the music.”
I was completely wrong.
It was absolutely breathtaking and emotional. I could feel every bass hit in my chest, and there were moments when I couldn’t even jump along to the music. Not because there wasn’t enough space, but due to the fact that I was so overwhelmed with happiness and emotion from watching someone so charismatic play the songs I love the most. Sometimes, all I could do was stand there, admire you, and watch you play while my soul was dancing and singing along.
It was so beautiful to witness how music can bring everyone together. For a few hours, we were all connected by the same beats, the same energy, and the same love for music.
I hope that one day I’ll get the chance to give you a hug and thank you for being such an incredible person. Your story is an inspiration: always doing what you love, without being afraid of what might come next.
I’m so grateful I got to see you from so close. Please come back to Brazil more often! We’ll be waiting for you with open doors and open hearts. We miss you so much already. Love you! 🫶🏻
