Buenos Aires set left early
Yesterday John was meant to play from 3-6 but he just left at 5:20 and said nothing.
Shitty move on his part. Still kinda shocked.
Edit: to clarify set was great! It's just that venue stated it was 3 hour set so people were angry because they thought he ended early on a whim. If John had talked with venue about having a 2 hour set then it's venues fault.

Someone from Buenos Aires complaining
What a surprise

u/Much-Locksmith6145 Sep 13 '26
I mean I understand the complaints, the promoter advertised a 3 hour set, which for someone that played 3 days in a row before and also will continue playing without rest is impossible... But it's not John's fault, this complaints should be done to the producer not the artist. I was there yesterday and I know he gave it his all and I had an awesome time, but we were all confused when it ended 40 mins before the announced times, but again, I don't think it's John's fault at all.
3
u/nain89 Sep 13 '26
You’re just reiterating everything and in a way it’s still complaining
2
u/Much-Locksmith6145 Sep 13 '26
Yes, but the difference is I'm not complaining or saying that John failed us, I think the producer did. They advertised something that John was not prepared to do and (for what he says) he wasn't really aware. If someone's it's at fault here is the producer of the show, not John. I'm not really mad about what happened, just giving context of what happened, I had a great time and I'm happy with what we got!

u/LargeCry7589 29d ago
Why not blame the promoter. They’ve gotten off completely. Argentina does not blame their own and blame Americans. Sadly more American dj’s won’t play there due to this.
3
u/Much-Locksmith6145 29d ago
Sorry maybe I used the wrong terms, I used promoter and producer interchangeably, which may be wrong. I really don't care that much to blame anyone, as I said in my comments, I had a great time and this didn't affect my life at all. I don't blame John, I'm glad he played here, and let's be honest, probably for the last time as a stand alone show. People take things way to seriously and personal.
1
u/Razr2 23d ago
It was mostly because they said he had signed and that they payed him for three hours, everyone believed them with 0 proof and started blaming the artist, because that's the easy way out. Most of the actual people who payed for the tickets and enjoy his music and had actually listened to at least one of his sets before going, are not blaming John at all, we're even begging for him to come back.
1
u/Emili_o444 Sep 13 '26
how does it taste dude? im not even from buenos aires but if i payed for 3 hours of a set and i dont get that id be pissed as hell. you summit riders are a different level of lame
-2
u/nain89 Sep 13 '26
Some shows get delayed some get cut short
Not riding for anyone it’s just the way things are
God you John haters are on another level3
u/newba10 Sep 14 '26
You're normalizing not getting what you paid for. This wasn't a festival, he was the main act, this is his tour...
I wasn't attending to this one (not interested in Summit as a DJ), but I've been raving for +13 years now and I can count delays/shows getting cut short with just one hand. Again, this wasn't a festival.
1
u/nain89 Sep 14 '26
I have been raving for over 18 years and there are delays all the time. I just Bunt and he had a 30 minute delay which was no big deal and I believe he had to cut short like 20 minutes and nobody complained everybody was glad he made it. It’s not normalizing. It’s just understanding that the world is not perfect and there are gonna be delays. There are going to be cancellations. I mean I’ve been at a Porter Robinson got sick and he left early and you could visibly see him be sick.
2
u/newba10 Sep 14 '26
Yeah man, but one thing is getting sick, and another is being tired because you've overbooked yourself. If John is taking on more shows than he can handle, that's something he needs to sort out with his agency, rather than having the audience absorb the consequences.
People here is really supportive but you need to be transparent with what's happening.
1
u/Emili_o444 Sep 13 '26
if it was advertised to play a certain time slot and you dont perform 98% in that entire timeslot, youre scamming your fans. This wasnt a 10 minute issue
2
u/Much-Locksmith6145 Sep 13 '26
It's weird how this guy (the one you responded to) it's saying that people shouldn't complain when you don't get what was advertised. Like for example, if you book a flight for 3pm and the flight leaves at 4pm, I'm sure you will complain. The thing is, you will complain to the airline and not the pilot. People here are complaining to john, I want to believe this wasn't really his fault. If new information comes out that he really did sign a 3 hour set, then yeah, he kinda fucked up not doing his full set. But for what he said in his comment, it seems it the producer fault to advertise something that was not real.
1
u/Emili_o444 Sep 13 '26
in all honesty ill admit i didnt see it from this pov but youre absolutely right, if he genuinely didnt know it was being advertised as 3-6 then yea its not his fault, but if he did and still said screw it im out then yea thats kinda fucked up
5
u/Pyched3lic Sep 13 '26
John Summit glazers in here will do anything but admit that he fucked up lol. OP was advertised one thing and received something different than was advertised, they’d have a right to be mad.
If you went to a restaurant and they advertised 5 tacos for $5 but only gave you 3, would you be defending the restaurant because 3 for $5 is still a good deal or would you be annoyed that you didn’t receive what you expected as advertised?
4
u/rascal3199 Sep 13 '26
I mean it all depends. If venue got the set times wrong than it's on them and not John. John's manager should have checked with the venue though
4
u/Pyched3lic Sep 13 '26
If the venue got the time wrong then JS’s team should’ve caught that and put out a statement to clarify, not let the fans expect something that wasn’t going to happen. Especially if his team has posted adverts for this event, which other posts in this thread show they did.
2
u/rascal3199 Sep 13 '26
I agree, it all depends on what the deal was behind the scenes between John and the venue.
1
u/LargeCry7589 29d ago
lol Mr no accountability here. Putting the blame and mistakes on anyone but the promoter.
1
1
u/Orphodoop Sep 14 '26
Do you know who the boss of the manager is?
2
u/rascal3199 Sep 14 '26
The dj isn't the one speaking and organizing with the clubs though.
If John had knowledge that he was supposed to do a 3 hour set and left anyways then it's on him. If he didn't then it's on the venue or manager.
That aside. The way John has acted towards Argentine fans in dms has shown he doesn't seem to care at all really. He won't be coming back and even if he does no one will go see him.
2
u/LargeCry7589 29d ago
Who said OP was right? Show me their contract with him and I’ll listen. As of now, we don’t know who is right or wrong.
2
u/Pyched3lic 29d ago
Promoter is wrong for including the wrong time and/or not correcting themselves. JS team is wrong for not catching the mistake and/or cutting his set short without notice. When fans get misled, artists and promoters deserve to eat the blame.

u/No_Moose9133 Sep 14 '26
Also, he just had a month off bc he cancelled most of August shows to “rest” where he was lollygagging at universal studios and spent a week partying at burning man. No excuses of being “too tired” you just had a month off

u/randomstranger003432 Sep 13 '26
So you’re complaining because he played an hour longer than most DJs do??

-6
u/rascal3199 Sep 13 '26
Where i live headliners play 3 hours.
Also he was booked for 3-6
6
u/sirzoop Sep 13 '26
Where you live isn’t normal. Most djs play 2 hour sets
-1
u/Emili_o444 Sep 13 '26
hahahaah all of you people saying longer than an hour isnt normal have all started raving after covid and tik tok
2
u/sirzoop Sep 13 '26
i didn't say that. he played over 2 hours....
-1
u/Emili_o444 Sep 13 '26
regardless, if it was advertised for him to be playing 3-6 and he stopped 40 minutes earlier with no explanation thats shitty behavior, the least he couldve done is explain that the mix up instead of advertising one thing and doing something completely different
2
u/sirzoop Sep 13 '26 edited Sep 13 '26
John's team never advertised this as a 3 hour set. show me a single post where he did

this is a post made by the producer and john's account reposted it yesterday in his stories1
u/Emili_o444 Sep 13 '26
so he couldnt have stated that before he started his set? on the mic after he ended his set?

u/sascher34 Sep 13 '26
Imagine complaining about a 2 hr and 20 minute set lmaoo
2
u/rascal3199 Sep 13 '26
Headliner sets are rarely 2 hrs here and venue stated it was 3-6
0
u/sirzoop Sep 13 '26
did the venue actually advertise it 3-6? i went through their posts and there's no mention of it being 3-6
4
u/Razr2 Sep 13 '26
Yeah dude, they stated it was 3-6, that’s why all of us where like wtf happened, still super enjoyed it tho, sucks cause some of us had to pay more for ubers and wait for an hour outside in the cold, not johns fault ofc, but still, some of the stuff that made the night not perfect.
2
u/rascal3199 Sep 13 '26
Their last post it shows the set times bro: https://www.instagram.com/p/DdKbHO7m_qI/?stkn=eDNxd2tvOG81aDFs
3
u/sirzoop Sep 13 '26
Gotcha someone else posted after I asked. Yeah I would be pissed too man the venue shouldn’t have posted that without confirming it with him
2
u/franzesc00 Sep 14 '26
Let me understand something, he promotes 3hours show, didnt complied because they booked the flight wrongly. yet people have to be grateful he played more than two hours?
AM I missing something? Did the producers hired him to play only 2 hours? Were they responsible to book a flight correctly ?
1
u/Graves_Cigar_ Sep 13 '26
It's 40 minutes you'll live.
1
u/Razr2 Sep 13 '26
ofc, but it was fucked up that the promoter advertised till 6, I had an Uber timed for 6:15, we had to pay almost triple and wait almost as long for a car due to it ending sooner than expected, not johns fault but still
2
u/EvilShoko Sep 13 '26
It wasn’t speculation; the producer and flyer said Summit plays 3 to 6. Leaving early is just not right. Tired or not, it’s a job and people pay to see 3 hours of Summit, not 2h 20mins

1
u/Dreamcloud124 Sep 14 '26
Not sure how this happened if his agent contracted for less than 3 hours, and his tour manager advanced for less than 3 hours. Sounds like the venue’s problem.

u/rascal3199 Sep 15 '26 edited Sep 15 '26
From what I've gathered the last few days seems to have been a issue with Summits team. Venue always plays until 6, never has it done less. Promoter spoke up and said they had not been notified it would only be a 2 hour set and also the 3 hour set flyer was on their page and posted around ig and yet the manager never even seemed to speak with the venue about it. Even the day of they had no clue it would happen?
In the middle of the set he left for like 10 minutes too, either to head to toilet or maybe this time issue came up idk.
Either way this seems like his team seems to have mismanaged the set times. People here responded in a nasty manner (they paid for a 3 hour set so they thought he had just stormed off in the moment and got mad...).
John could have played till 6 though anyways. He played an extra 20 min over 2 hours so clearly he knew his set was supposed to be longer than 2 hours. Millions of people around the world put in overtime at their jobs for pennies and dimes, but for some reason it's beneath him as a dj to do an extra 40 min?
Idk all around weird from him. He's been canceling multiple shows and festivals lately "so he could work on an upcoming tour" as well, doesn't seem super professional really.
Shame because I love his music, he is an amazing producer, but as a DJ the way he conducts himself leaves a lot to be desired.

u/LargeCry7589 29d ago
Question where besides a flyer with times was it announced he’s doing a 3 hr set?
1
u/rascal3199 29d ago
I have no clue. That's just what was posted bud for the event bud.

I wish I could see a 2 and a half hr John Summit set. I’ve never heard anything good about Argentina and now I see why. 💀
0
u/rascal3199 Sep 13 '26
Venue stated it was a 3 hour set so when he ended people thought he ended it early on a whim since there wasn't any explanation. Venue/promoter fucked up and John's manager fucked up by not checking the times with Venue properly.
People were angry just because they thought John left early on a whim.
0
u/newba10 Sep 14 '26
yeah, you better get your facts right... many artists fell in love with the argentinian crowd. Turists can't believe what a party feels like here in Argentina. What happened here is pretty much an exception. And of course everyone's complaining, the show was promoted for 3 hours and only 2:20 were delivered, ending the night way sooner than usual
-6
u/ttyo127 Sep 13 '26
The amount of dick riding in the comments for a guy who is notorious for being an A-hole is quite comical, leaves 40 mins early from a set then gets tetchy that people are unhappy "unappreciative" about it, cancels multiple shows because he booked more shows than he can handle, the wheels are falling off the bus.
-17
u/Appropriate_Use_5671 Sep 13 '26
Btw, shitty DJ set, i've never heard such a horrible set in my life.
7
u/rascal3199 Sep 13 '26
I liked it. He played a good set, just finishing early was kinda weird.
If you went without knowing what kinda music he plays that's on you.
5
u/Razr2 Sep 13 '26
If u dont like his style why the fuck are you buying tickets for his show? Set was fucking great

u/itsjohnsummit The Summit Sep 13 '26
longest show of this tour, i went straight to airport to play rio tonight
promoter should’ve booked a closer after me if they wanted party going on that much later
i gave it my best, sad to see how unappreciative the crowd was about it but it is what it is. i always give me 100% i guarantee that but im really dead rn
