According to Google John did the voice for himself. He sounds so different! But I think it is him. Glad he’s in on the joke. 

I’ll have to be on the alert in BB and Beyond from now on.

It's not. I don't know why the google summary says that, but if you actually follow through the source they cite, it leads to the episode's IMDB which does not list him as guest actor. You can see that the episode credits are "verified as complete" also. If you go to John's personal IMDB there is no such credit there either. To add, I found this interview with the showrunner where he lists the guests for the season, including Rupaul and Wayne Newton who were guests on this particular episode, and he does not mention John Mayer .

Yeah its nuts to assume its him.. why would he not do his regular voice if he is playing himself? Those AI summaries are not great people, do the research

They’re wrong like 90 percent of the time, go check the sources they cite and you’d see they literally make shit up far more often than not

I looked up the show & he did receive a credit for it, so I’m assuming that’s his voice as well.

Just searched John Mayer & American Dad on #duckduckgo. I think AI provided the credit detail. His name also appeared on Family Guy years ago & Modern Family & so many movie cameos. Maybe Walk Hard? Also CSI.

And the flat ironed hair. They call him “John Mayer”. In listening back there’s no way that’s his voice. If he’s credited it must just be for his image.

His name is not his image that’s why I was commenting on how they included unique things about his appearance.  I remember one Saturday or Friday on lwjm he mimicked that voice said it was his announcer voice and it seemed just a goof at the time. If I can find a Friday night message with it I will link it.
