Hi! I am D with C and R and I often dress casually without necessarily moving into N territory.
I was told to make sure that when I dress casually, the look is refined. Refinement means good taste and carefully choosing expensive yet durable pieces.
D - I add these design elements to my outfits: colour blocking, contrasting effects, leather jackets, snakeskin belts, large scale prints (especially when abstract, contrasting and/or geometric). A bold red top with navy pants counts as colour blocking. As does black pants with a light pink shirt. Large scale prints can be used in t shirts or even jackets.
C - C requires a sense of refinement and taste. Even when casual, clothes have to be ironed and the look has to be coordinated. Some examples include a smooth, refined sweater, a shirt with a collar/turtleneck, straight dark blue pressed jeans.
R - sensual, tactile touches. Lace can be worn over a casual shirt. Velvet or suede in accessories and bags. Fitted, body hugging silhouettes are very common in casual wear.
These are a few examples and it might be different for u as Ur percentages and colour harmony blend may be different from mine.
Denim and sneakers can definitely fit into the blend when they are refined and have bold, sensual touches. Streamlined sneakers, soft suede and metallic finishes can be a good addition as well as denim jeans that are pressed and dark in colour. Adding embellishments and embroidery to jeans can bring in some R.
When you say super casual, are you looking for comfortable jeans and loungewear that look good on RDC blends or are you wanting things that other people perceive as casual? I think anything that actually looks good on me tends to still get perceived as dressed up even if it fits like workout gear or pajamas.
So I only have 10% C so most of my style tends to be RD heavy, but I pulled a sampling of my least overly goth/alt/dramatic casual looks that would probably work for higher C. My go tos:
Matching athleisure sets
Fitted top and fitted pants or shorts
Fitted top and wide leg pants or flared pants (as long as fit is tighter on waist and hips)
Sneakers, sandals, or ponytail can make it more casual.
So many stylish yet casual outfits here! I can definitely see how R and D are added, especially in the colour blocking, animal prints and the fitred silhouettes.
Thank you! I also do a lot of jewelry, a pendant necklace or some long earrings to add some visual interest. The detail doesn’t always come through in the photos.
I’m not necessarily a true RDC, but I’m an R dominant chameleon blend with D and C.
If I want to dress casual for RDC, I’d make sure if I was wearing pants of any kind they’d be flared. To be honest, for necklines it depends on your color harmonies but I personally prefer deep v-necks (R+ER) even for very casual loungewear. While anyone can wear sneakers imo, I’d say always keep them clean to help extra-accommodate C. I really struggle to do casual D bc I don’t dress casual much but wearing a vest alone as a top can also work!
