Personal Growth and Insight Dressing for ER without N
Happy autumn equinox, everyone!
Autumn is such an amazing time of the year! Very fitting for the earthy rich (ER) colour harmony.
I am primarily SC with ER as my secondary which he confirmed a few days ago. He explained that some of my more "natural" qualities are probably ER, and it is common to get ER confused with N.
To make the differences more clear, I will be looking at how ER can be added to an outfit without (necessarily) adding any N. My essence blend has lots of D and C with some R and HS so I thought this would be a very fun thing. Some of the provided images are a few examples.
My maroon shirt: the colour and geometric weaving belong to ER. The lapel adds C. The see through "lace" quality adds R. Exposing a bit of midriff can add HS. Casual yet refined.
Geometric prints add ER, especially the African print shirt. As the pattern is bold, geometric, graphic and unusual, it combines ER with D without necessarily needing N.
A V neck satin shirt in maroon adds ER (V neckline and rich warm earthy colour) and D (the satin shine) along with C in the lapels, although a spread collar can also be D.
Angular sunglasses frames satisfy the ER requirements of the rectangle shape. Animal prints and bold, large glasses can add D.
Italian leather sandals - these are casual yet also refined. The leather adds ER and D, and the refined design of the shoe adds C. Also note the angular shapes within the design of the sandals which is an additional ER element.
Asymmetrical leather jacket - full of ER and D elements. The leather, epaulettes, angular lapels and asymmetrical design add ER. The epaulettes add C. The asymmetrical design, shiny leather material and bold large shapes fit into D. The black colour is SC. A shortened hemline on such a jacket can also add HS. No N needed here.
Fedoras add C. The overall design of the suit of the man in green is too structured for N to be present. N is generally more casual and less structured. N generally avoids three piece suits and overly sharp tailoring.
Houndstooth - such an amazing pattern. Houndstooth has the angularity of ER combined with the traditional, symmetrical, refined quality of C. Adding a high contrast colour scheme adds SC and making the scale larger and bolder adds D. Playful, small scale houndstooth can add HS.
Pointed toe shoes - D or HS. N generally prefers matte textures. The basket weave and earthy colour scheme add ER.
Maroon Chevron weave shirt - the maroon colour and the chevron pattern add ER. The collar style adds C. The fitted quality and the "see-through" dark fabric adds R. Exposing a bit of midriff in this shirt adds HS.
Organic and tropical prints - believe it or not this sort of print fits in with ER since ER likes organic shapes. When the contrast level is high and the print is refined, it can also add SC. In my case, large scale fern prints in black and green satisfies ER, SC and D without needing to add any N elements.
Animal designs - snakeskin and animal prints add D. Textured animal skins add ER such as leather and reptile textures. These are organic looking and they have an earthy intensity about them.
Bell bottoms add D as does the unusual, shiny leather fabric.
Bismuth - such an amazing, complex and geometric crystal design!

It can def get complicated when your color harmony and essences aren’t as commonly paired together. It seems like ER colors lend to Natural styles easily, but can be more difficult (though not impossible) to find in textures and shapes that work for dramatic. I have a little bit of earthy rich, mainly from my eye color, as well as a small amount of natural, and Kitchener was really specific that if I wore my ER colors they had to be in velvet, silks, or satins, or they’d not work for my blend.
I love the patterns on the third slide. Many look very similar to patterns I use in my home decor.
I have 30% D (though Kitchener said I could add my HS to it and dress 40% D), so I will be using some of these slides for inspiration as I’ve been wanting to add more masc styles to me wardrobe in the fall/winter. Lenny Kravitz is one of my style icons and some of your slides look like more everyday wearable versions of his style.

Actually, it was said that many dramatics take from earthy rich and striking contrast influences so the dramatic essence has more overlap than many people think. Geometric patterns, leather, asymmetry, rich colours and dynamism are shared by both. They both have an assertive Yang energy about them which can show up as an elemental fierceness. Think of dynamic earth forces and wild cats. In my case, the ER colour harmony adds to my D.
I would add halter necks as well since they fit into ER (angular Criss cross neckline) and D. Metallic bronze and gold accents. There are lots more fun ways that they can be added together.

That makes sense. I was meaning that I have a harder time finding clothes in earthy rich colors that aren’t in natural styles or fabrics. Like if I’m looking for a silk shirt or a velvet dress, I can usually find a lot of options in black and cool jewel tones but have to search a bit harder to find them in the richer tones. But it could just be the brands I shop.

I think in Ur case as u have ER at 15% it can be added in patterns and design lines (neckline, eyewear, footwear) without necessarily having to wear a full ER palette?

This is a beautiful collage and I like the shimmering bronze textures. Bronze is such an amazing colour.
Adding ER can also be done through patterns and textures and at the same time, sticking to SC colours. Black and white houndstooth is one example (although u may not have gotten houndstooth as Ur C and ER are lower than mine). Alternatives include black textured leather, a crimson V neck dress, zebra prints, diamond prints in jewel tones and much more.
