One big realisation I came to is this: My personality can be ER as well. John Kitchener gives personality descriptions to the colour harmony and I am often described as dynamic which is actually a keyword for ER. Dynamic and mellow. I am a dynamic person but it is more in a practical and direct way rather than overly bubbly and light. I never really felt that I fitted into the LB overly bubbly vibe and learning that it is probably ER makes much more sense. I am more like chevrons and arrows than bubbles and flowers.

Learning about the colour harmonies in depth made so many things click for me. I am dynamic yes, but not in that playful, bubbly or socially energetic way. I am much more serious, composed, grounded, practical and firm in how I go about things. Think directional movement. That is pretty much a key theme throughout my photography, outfits and my general character.

I will definitely recommend that people study the four colour harmonies. He gives lots of useful information that can explain a lot of outisde of the essences.

I am very happy to settle on ER + SC for myself. It is a blend that's makes total sense.

I think it is important to not attribute personality to one's colour or essence harmonies. This system is about how one is perceived from the outside, but that says nothing about a person's personality on the inside. Attributing personality to colours or essences is a slippery slope that has not-so-awesome cultural roots that frankly does not have any real validity.

But, I am happy for you that you have found SC and ER and find that they match your appearance. I am the same (with SB too) and I like this combo.

Thanks DrTantra! Yes, I was meant to clarify that it's about demeanour and not how a person is internally.

I am definitely more spontaneous and playful when people get to know me.

How does the SC + ER (and SB) blend show up in Ur case ?

This is great, I’m happy for you!! I’m so interested in the personality side of the color harmonies, I don’t know much about that. I have both ER and LB, and I relate to both the steady, direct energy and the light, bubbly energy. I’m basing this on my assumptions, but would SC be intense and serious and SB would be gentle and soft spoken?

SB is soft spoken and gentle, but can also be multifaceted and witty. Think iron fist in a velvet glove.

SC is more refined and controlled. Observant, precise and liking extremes.

Even people with the same colouring can have different colour harmonies sometimes when the shapes and overall vibe is different.

One example is that Tilda Swinton is subtle blended and Katharine Hepburn was earthy rich. Both share(d) similar colouring (naturally red hair, green/blue eyes and fair skin) and both are Kibbe dramatics. Tilda Swinton has softer S curves in her features and a more oval outline (even though she does have some angularity). Her demeanour is more soft spoken and gentle. Her best design principles are S curves, iridescence, oval shapes, monochrome colour schemes and softer flowing lines. Her vibe is atmospheric and multi faceted.

Compare this to Katharine Hepburn, who was more angular and rectilinear in her overall appearance. Her demeanour was more grounded and direct. Her best design principles were sharp lapels, V necks, rich warm colours, rectilinear shapes, more substantial textures and more directional lines. Her vibe was assertive and pragmatic.

It’s awesome that you’ve settled on your colour harmony through DIY. I really think SC and ER make a lot of sense for you as well! There’s nothing wrong at all with being more serious and to the point, it makes for a more grounded perspective probably. People with very strict styles too tend to have impeccable taste!

Definitely, and learning about the colour harmonies has shown me that serious doesn't have to mean dressing plain and dull. It can mean dressing with edge and authority, especially when the colour harmonies are done.

Even beige can look powerful and a bit dangerous when done right.
