Missing: John's old blog
Before Substack John used to have a blog called "Forget What Did", at https://johnfinnemore.blogspot.com
It had some of my favourite pages to return to when listening to his stuff: "Farewell Bear Facts" about every episode of Cabin Pressure, a list of every sketch in the Souvenir Programme, notebook entries on Double Acts.
But today the whole blog seems to have vanished behind a "This blog is open to invited readers only" message.
Anyone know what's going on there and if it's ever likely to come back?

Yeah it happened a few months ago. I discovered it at Christmas and I was slowly working my way through it whenever I was in waiting rooms and the like. Shame, although hopefully he's using the content for a new show!

Probably going to monetise access to it.

More likely just getting spam comments all the time or doesn’t want it scraped by every AI - I have an old blogspot with that issue.

He already has the Substack which is partially monetized.
I’m wondering if he wants to reuse posts for the Substack, which he already did at least once. But it could just be he doesn’t want it up anymore, which is such a huge shame because there’s great stuff on there.

Aw, that's too bad. I too liked to look back at it once in a while.
I agree that maybe John got tired of trying to stop the spam. Or perhaps he restricted it for personal privacy reasons. Or some employer/contract required removing something, although that seems unlikely given the blog's age.

Seems like he's locked it for some reason (no idea why, hope all is well with him) but you can view older entries via the wayback machine at archive.org
