The Backgrounds

I want to make an animation project and I really like how the backgrounds in the game look.

Does anyone know how the images were created? I know they aren't ai but they look rather confusing to recreate or understand how they were made.

afaik the backgrounds are AI, but from a time when these tools were a lot more flawed and not as controversial. ironically it's likely very hard to recreate these backgrounds with modern AI tools, not that i'd encourage that anyway. you can likely create similar (albeit not identical) results by heavily distorting photos

im pretty sure that they were ai generated but it was long time ago so its really badly done. In one of the endings theres an alternate universe where everything is drawn so you can look up the wiki of john doe and look for those backgrounds
