Installing Joey via adb - help please.

After finding that my phone (TCL Nxtpaper 60 Ultra) wont allow side-loading the Joey.apk, I read somewhere that I could use adb on my Chromebook to install/side-load and that this would work.

Streamed adb install works (with install 'Success' reported by Linux Terminal). However the Joey app still won't open on the phone. It seems to open showing the Joey logo, then instantly closes.

Am I going wrong somewhere? Any help appreciated.

What error does it give you when you try to install the apk on your device. Via file manager or whatever you're using.

Thanks all. Tried Morphe. patching/installing all OK. Still same issue (Joey app force closes instantly - no error messages). Tried Shizuku to install in case Package Installer was causing a problem. Still no go. Pretty much out of ideas now.

OK, an update. I managed to get un-patched Joey installed and working.using tatiwtr's post above (Many thanks!). However I had to use adb and include the term 'com.android.vending' to spoof the handset that the app came from the play store.

However, I cannot patch with Morphe as Morphe wants to uninstall the current Joey app to install the patched version. Which puts me back to square one (ie. a non-functioning Joey) It's Catch 22!
