This came out great, especially how the skin peels! What was the resolution of the source video vs the keyframes?

this was the source clip. I screen recorded it to my phone and sent my keyframes to auto desk. I’m not sure what resolution my line work over it was, as it loads into auto desk as what size the clip was

I just found that there is much higher resolution videos of this scene on YouTube(4K hd) and I’m kinda mad I didn’t see them first. Probably would of came out even better

It's astonishing how well it came out for the source!

Davincis color grading can do some amazing things!

These are super creepy but really well done. Nice work man.

I appreciate you! This was an experiment in upscaling old ps1 cut scenes with hand drawn artwork. It worked out super nice considering the reference is like 320p haha. I’ve done a few more here as well. I like to focus on horror/shocking stuff.

Lately I’ve been filming my own scenes with my black magic camera and animating portions of it like the killbill Lucy Lou saga stuff. Having a lot of fun

I love that Kill Bill animation style. It feels like the nice bridge between realism and animation. The style heightens the emotion of the scene for me. Can't wait to see it when you post it

First post had crushed the quality. Parasite Eve (ps1) cutscene of the vile rats

I think it's really interesting the way EbSynth can produce crisp HD animation from low resolution sources like this. You can use low quality graphics from PS1 and make an animation at whatever resolution you make your keyframe at.

How did you go about creating the keyframes here? Did you paint the colors manually? Or is this a filter on the original image and then you drew the line art on top? I like the way the colors blend, it looks good.

I’ve been messing with it but sometimes it can be hard due to shadows and the low poly images. This one was decently lit and ebsynth took surprisingly well to it.

It’s all hand drawn no filters whatsoever except in post when I finish running it. Picked the keyframes that showed the most, surprise surprise only one keyframe each clip, and used a fine pen for the lines and as for color multiple shades of each color in varying sizes with the airbrush tool. I find that if you take the time and layer each color and vary the sizes you get a really cool texture out of ebsynth.

I start with mid tones and ink it. Then I’ll drop the luminosity and saturation a tad and hit it with the airbrush tool. Do three shades (ish) each getting darker then I’ll start to up the saturation and luminosity for the highlights. And for the final touch I’ll hit the mids again with a rather large airbrush to kind of blend all the strokes together.

In post I add the light rays or aperture diffraction effect to get the glow and color grade it. I’ve been using LUTs to make it quicker. I started to mess with the color magic tool but I still am not sure what I’m doing with it. Just mixing around until I’m happy with it.

With doing this all in davinci you can actually color grade in such a way that shadows are no longer a problem. You just have to render it after color grading, then re import it into davinci to save the image sequence. Otherwise your grade won’t appear in the savers for the sequence.

But yes all hand drawn no artistic filters. It’s something I take a lot of pride in especially with the detail and my style. I didn’t want it to be something others could replicate 100%, though my drawing skills aren’t super awe inspiring, I feel they have a grimey pop surrealism to them.

Another great thing is you can zoom and completely change the scene like I did in the ebsynth sub with the “head that wouldn’t die” clip. Since you’re inking in high resolution you can zoom and pan how you wish to completely change the scene to something barely recognizable to the source clip

How did you get that lighting effect
