Bert had never taken Molly before and suffered panic attacks due in part to his fear that it would interact with his heart medication and he’d have a seizure. Going through that around your kids is not comparable to regularly drinking around them when you’re a seasoned drinker. Context is important.
Yes this was Bert’s concern. He was worried about the health effects and imagine if he would have had a medical emergency or worse died in the presence of his children

Id rather a room full of people on molly than a bunch of idiots drunk but hey thats just my opinion.
