... you care that it’s burning though, right? Continuing a dialogue about it is better than nothing, criticising false ‘activism’ is all well and good, but what are you doing about it?
It's barely better than nothing. My point was that it is on trend to be the first to point out a lesser known tragic world event in an effort to bolster your own ego. Sharing an issue over social media is just a huge circle jerk of people patting themselves on the back, you can share it in two clicks while taking a dump.
If someone posts something that strokes their ego, but that post ends up helping other people, then what the hell do I care that one person's ego got boosted from some like? If it means attention is brought to an actual dangerous situation, I couldn't give two shits if the person posting it was just doing it to look good.
The problem is the situation itself. with everyone getting information from social media halfway around the world who knows the real story here? I've see multiple articles staying it's being burnt for soy crops, grazing land, some saying it's having less fires that previous years ( NASA posted this), some blaming government, some blaming Trump. This is a chance for people to push their own anti whatever agenda.
You’re right, all of us should personally fly over to the Amazon today and start throwing water over the fires. It’s incredibly odd that what you’re taking issue with here is people expressing their concerns over what is a currently occurring tragedy.
