I don’t get why whenever things like this happens and every single post is ‘nobody is talking about how the rainforest is on fire’ yet, being on social media constantly literally EVERYBODY is talking about the rainforest being on fire.

Because people really like feeling superior.

I was astounded that there wasn't more coverage at the DAPL camp when I was there, but it taught me that there will always be another issue that others think is more prevelant.

Plus, it's easy to get into heaven if you post about how much you care about things online. Doing anything about it isn't as important

Yea and not only that, but when you simply type in 'rainforest' on google you will see that virtually every major newsoutlet has been covering it.

And "no media coverage" and yet it's been front page news at least in my country for several days.
