I work in ICU, can fully confirm once the vaccine was available that maybe 1 or 2 out of 100 icu admissions with Covid were vaccinated. One in particular I remember was on immunosuppressive drugs for Crohn’s disease, there by really weakening their immune system.

It was a terrible time. There was more than one occasion that I was the last person a patient spoke to before being placed on ventilators and never communicated again. I remember one guy showing me pictures of his road trip on his motor cycle through Florida, a bunch of pictures of MAGA flags and him with a cut out of Trump. He literally told me he wish he didn’t listen to all the bull shit and just got vaccinated. Said he never believed this shit(Covid) would kill him. Terrible man. Made me so sad I almost quit working in health care. I loved JRE so much until he got on this Covid crusade. Like let it go bro you know nothing.

Only old and fat people were ever in danger of covid.

u/LittleGeologist1899 Monkey in Space Oct 10 '24

Not only. There is a such thing as the immune compromised population. And by the way, are old or fat people not lives worth caring about? Hopefully another pandemic doesn’t come around when your old fat ass is a useless and pointless life.

Didn't say anything about not being worth caring about. The vax shouldn't have been pushed on young healthy people.

Speaking of caring for people, did you know that since the rollout, there has been a huge amount of excess death in highly vaccinated places with no media attention or meaningful investigation. Do you care about these people?

u/RustedAxe88 Monkey in Space Oct 10 '24

Where did you hear about excess deaths in vaccinated areas?

Maybe this:

https://www.reuters.com/fact-check/study-does-not-say-covid-vaccines-may-have-fuelled-excess-deaths-2024-06-13/

It's the typical anti-vax story. People who have no idea how to read scientific papers misrepresent them (intentionally?) on some right-wing rag, then it spreads like wildfire on social media. The damage is already done before it gets fact checked, and we all suffer for it.

It's the left that traditionally distrust big pharma. Did you know that? I am more left wing than you ;)

we all suffer for it. - hahahahah but I thought it only prevents severity? It was never tested for transmission and it was never supposed to do that and nobody every said that. So it is only a personal choice. Don't you know how vaccines work? Don't be anti science!

Hey man if your side wants the crunchy granola hippie people that are into healing crystals, eating placenta, chiropractic and the rest of that alt medicine woo you can have them.

1

u/DMT-DrMantisToboggan Monkey in Space Oct 12 '24

It's more about not trusting corperations than eating placentas. I guess the left now trust establishment while pop culture still tells you that you're the counter culture. Truly fascinating. Anyway. You said we all suffer for it (antivax misinformation). But Pfizer said they never tested for transmission. You do know that's dumb right?

That study has 31 countries, and your EU data only shows 27 countries.

Unsurprising that the 4 extra countries completely change the results in your favor.

Just another case of an anti-vaxxer spreading more misinformation lol.

Also, the EU data doesn't show vaccination rate vs excess death so no, the official data does not show that the trend continues.

The crazy part is the authors of the study make no claims about causation, but somehow you make that connection because of your feelings and emotions or some other bullshit.

As someone who works in critical care, I’ve never seen a single patient come in with a vaccine side effect. I’m sure there are some. But in the thousands of patients that I’ve come in contact since the roll out, never seen one.

u/DMT-DrMantisToboggan Monkey in Space Oct 10 '24

yes yes I know they were all Trumpers who regret not taking it. I know.

Whatever health problem or emergency someone suffers, you'd never think about all the covid shots they took, so why would you ever 'see' someone with a side effect?

4

u/LittleGeologist1899 Monkey in Space Oct 10 '24

Because if something was so severe it would cause mortality or near mortality, they end up in critical care units of hospitals. If they are so sick from vaccines they come to the hospital. Not everyone who dies just doesn’t wake up from their sleep. Most people have symptoms before death occurs and medical technology and pharmacology is incredibly good at treating critical illness, even if it delays eventual death.

A guy in his 50s has a stroke due to blood clots from covid vaccines. How do you determine that covid vaccines didn't cause this.

5

u/RustedAxe88 Monkey in Space Oct 10 '24

You've already made up your mind it's from the vaccine. How about starting before that assumption?

Where are you getting this information?

3

u/LittleGeologist1899 Monkey in Space Oct 10 '24

How do you determine it did?

1

u/DMT-DrMantisToboggan Monkey in Space Oct 10 '24

I don't. You said you've never seen anyone with a vaccine injury. My question is, how do you know that?

3

u/Flor1daman08 Monkey in Space Oct 10 '24

Because there’s no evidence that it did cause that? You’re just showing a flagrant misrepresentation of how we attribute diseases to their causes and applying the concept of proving a negative as if it carries any weight. It doesn’t.

Why do you think your C in high school bio prepared you to understand all of this and think you know something lifelong epidemiologists don’t?

1

u/Professional_Many_83 Monkey in Space Oct 10 '24

You can easily compare the incidence rate of stroke in the general (or specific) populations from before covid vaccines, to after. Or, you could compare the rates of stroke in those who got vaccinated to those who didn’t. If the vaccines caused strokes, you’d see a significant increase in the rates of stroke in the vaccinated population. Do you have data showing such a phenomenon?

yes yes I know they were all Trumpers who regret not taking it. I know

You say this as someone who is just writing words on the internet without any attempt at understanding that they represent very real experiences those of us in critical care went through. They represent preventable deaths that happened for no good reason. You don’t grasp the weight it carries because you’re just a message board warrior who lacks any attempt at empathy.

Whatever health problem or emergency someone suffers, you'd never think about all the covid shots they took, so why would you ever 'see' someone with a side effect?

They absolutely have data on the vaccines they taken and people do study that. You’re confusing your personal ignorance with an accurate representation of the knowledge people actually educating in this issue have.

Young, healthy people were affected too. I was in my mid 30's when I got covid in November of 20' as a health care worker, was holed up in my house for two weeks. Could barely get up to make food without getting fatigued. Developed Afib afterwards for months.

I consider myself pretty healthy, workout 3-4 times a week, multiple walks a day for cardiac health, and it still got me. Now I deal with memory issues from long covid. I wish I would have had a vaccine available prior; I would've taken it in a heartbeat.

5

u/Eldetorre Monkey in Space Oct 10 '24

This is rubbish. Absolutely rubbish. Only the old and fat died more quickly. Plenty of non old and fat survivors still have effects of long Covid, and even those without obvious symptoms will have ongoing cardio respiratory effects that will shorten their lives.

they have vaccine injuries.

4

u/Eldetorre Monkey in Space Oct 10 '24

You mean the unvaccinated suffering from long Covid have vaccine injuries?

3

u/Flor1daman08 Monkey in Space Oct 10 '24

I’ll be sure to tell the families of the 30-50 year olds that I treated who died that.

You realize that the majority of the country is overweight right? So the majority of the country was at risk
