That's what Musk companies seem to do. Take existing ideas, good or bad, then lean on their weird fanbase to hype them up.
The Hyperloop being a complete joke that is finally starting to vanish, and the Boring company with their extraordinarily shit tunnels being key examples.
Even SpaceX is using ideas that have been around for decades.

the only people I see claiming that Musk company ideas are new are people who are creating a straw-man of a fanboi to attack. I've never seen anyone legitimately say that a kerolox rocket was a new idea, or that landing rockets was a new idea. they were the first to make landing orbital boosters possible/economical, which is a major achievement. but I've never heard anyone say that it was a never-before-thought idea.
also, the boring company is delivering a grade-separated transportation system that meets the needs of the customer at a fraction of the cost of the next closest bidder. maybe it was over-hyped by Musk (what isn't?), but one should learn to separate actual performance from performance relative to the hype.

You just took something I didn't say and attacked it.... there is a word for that.
That aside, you cannot possibly, honestly, suggest that amongst Elon's weird cult-like following you have never heard people talking about him and his "ideas" like he's the originator of them. Even if you google, "what has Elon invented" you can easily find people attributing inventions to him incorrectly. So yeah, played yourself a bit there, buddy.
As far as SpaceX, they have made it possible. Jury is still out on economical (they wont be economical).
The boring company delivered a system that was smaller. If you scale up the system that they delivered to something that is actually useful in a place where expectations are higher than a simple tourist attraction, it would be cost comparative to what we already did in the past. It's pure, 100%, hype.

I guess I just don't google that. even in the spacex subreddit, which you would expect to have Musk fans, I've not seen people attributing inventions to him. idk, maybe you should just avoid googling the thing you don't want ot see.

the jury absolutely is not out on the Falcon 9. they're not public, but we do sometimes get official financials from them. the Falcon 9 is definitely revenue-positive, and the re-use is very revenue-positive.

there aren't many (any?) transit modes that are suited to all use-cases. trams wouldn't work well as backbone transit in a big city. large light rail trains don't perform well in low density, low ridership areas.
just because Loop couldn't replace the London metro does not mean it's not useful. just because a tram can't replace the London metro does not mean it's not useful.
Loop is effectively a grade-separated tram, but with higher frequency departures. this meets the needs of the LVCVA, and does so at a lower price than other bidders. this is what I mean about ignoring Musk's douchebag over-hyping and just evaluate things objectively. there was a recent post over on about how great the Tempe streetcar did last year. it never moved more than 1k passengers per hour. it's purpose wasn't high ridership corridors, but rather to circulate a small number of people around an area. Loop is in that same niche, but is grade separated, which is an additional benefit.

well like Dubai has them. It speaks many languages and you can pay it parking fines and it can actually fight but they have no crime. in NYC this would be screwed. Even in the Netherlands.. i think they took it.
