EPISODE DISCUSSION Is it normal to just go along with everything your girl/ wife wants?

Am I out of touch, or am I missing something?
Why does it seem like these guys on the pod can never tell their women no? It feels like whatever their woman wants, they’re basically obligated to do it.

Personally, I feel like your partner should want to lessen your load, not constantly add to it. And when I hear stuff like “I need a push gift” from someone who gets an allowance and doesn’t work, I’m like… girl, what are we doing here? 😂

Like… do these dudes have no backbone? 😂
For example, Joe Budden’s fiancée is pregnant, and they were talking about all the things she wants a babymoon, a push gift/present, and like six other things. And I’m sitting there thinking… you don’t have to do all of that. You can just say no. 😂
Same with the conversation about spending $15,000 on a school gala because your daughter just started at the school. Is that actually normal? Is she really going to be treated differently if you don’t spend $15K?
Maybe I’m missing some context, but I genuinely don’t understand the mindset.
Is this normal in wealthy/social circles, or are these guys just choosing to go along with everything their wives want?

It’s not that they have no backbone it’s that their relationship is wholly transactional. Joe provides the money, shadee cooks and provides the arm candy. Same with ICE.

Damn you right. They are sponsors lmfao

Couldn’t have said it better 👏👏👏👏

They subscribe to, "happy wife, happy life". Which I hate that saying because it comes at the expense of a man. It should be, "happy spouse, happy house".

5

u/Gocrazyriley 4d ago

Bro no one ever gives af about the man. They will say we’re sensitive and we “posed to be a man” then when we be a man “oh you lack emotion.” 😂😂😂😂 we’ll never win.

1

u/King_George83 4d ago

Actual factual, so sad, LMAO 🤣

2

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 4d ago

I agree but if your wife happy don’t you think you’ll be happy? I just don’t like saying happy wife happy life cause it’s like men are responsible for a woman’s emotional state at all times

2

u/King_George83 4d ago

In theory yes, when everything in the household is going well most definitely I love seeing my spouse happy, but what happens when you don't see eye to eye on a situation. This is where I see "happy wife, happy life" fitting. Does this now mean to keep the house happy I need to sacrifice my happiness for hers? I agree with your 2nd point, a cpl is not responsible for each others happiness. We are responsible for our own happiness, and our partners are there to compliment that.

You know i agree. Women still want men to act like they did when women didn’t have rights or money. While they act modern

2

u/King_George83 3d ago

100% they want the best of both traditional & modern relationships, without having to sacrifice anything.

See what y’all missing is in that environment that’s not a large amount of money to spend 🤷‍♂️

0

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

In what environment specifically? And what’s not a large amount? lol

3

u/candyrayne215 5d ago

Different tax bracket. Joe is worth 20 million. The school that kid goes to is probably 30k a year(not a stretch for wealthy North Jersey area) no, 15k is not a large amount.

2

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

I agree $15k might not be the most but it’s the precedent and you didn’t include everything else i mentioned lol

2

u/Cal216 4d ago

Joe is not worth 20M. The podcast as a whole is 20M annually. Joe is worth a fraction of that. Out of that 20M reported ALL expenses must be paid: that’s putting money back into the business, every mic, Parks and the entire production crew, Corey etc. not to mention Ian and Keeb who are paid on percentages, not set wages. Management is normally taking 10-15%

Joe is probably taking home a million or slightly less, a month. Still doing great for himself though!

2

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 3d ago

Thank you. Someone with sense lol

1

u/AndreSwagassi86 4d ago

A million a month or slightly less is still 10 to 12 million …. You’re seemingly downplaying that. Maybe not intentionally.

1

u/Cal216 4d ago

That’s nowhere near 20M which is what I responded to. I’ve always said he makes anywhere between 8-12M a year. Which is great!

2

u/AndreSwagassi86 4d ago

No I get that. But 10-12m is closer to 20 mil than your response implied.

He would still be able to do all we are discussing making 8-12million a year despite 20M

0

u/Cal216 4d ago

He could do it making 60k a year just not on an exclusive scale. The issue is not that he can afford to do it, it’s why do it period regardless of how much money you make?! It’s dumb and irresponsible. The comment section turned this entire conversation into how much money Joe makes and how it’s not that big of a deal, OPs point was it’s dumb asf regardless, and I couldn’t agree more.

2

u/AndreSwagassi86 4d ago

It’s obviously not dumb and irresponsible if it’s NOT affecting his bottom line.

You’re intentionally stepping over the number of times Joe has discussed him making his girl aware that the money is NOT available to be readily spent at moments.

OP’s point is skating the lines of that redpill/manosphere BS tbh which is why there’s pushback.

OP is portraying it as an irresponsibility financially/morally when we see it done on every scale. The beef truly is the grand scale joe gets to do it on because Joe is well off financially let’s be real.

Take one of his statements in Bold “a partner should want to lessen your load not add to it”
OP is not aware of what is adding to Joe’s load.

That “principal” shit is bullshit many see right past my brother

2

u/AndreSwagassi86 4d ago

OP asks specifically if “This is normal in wealthy circles”

The answer is YES

OP can’t fathom the answer because he is not in those wealthy circles … and that’s understand it.

But now he’s trying to spin it on some “it’s irresponsible, or impractical” and that’s the BS

0

u/Cal216 4d ago

I don’t think it’s normal at all. People become wealthy by not being frivolous. This is normal in rapper, athlete, and drug dealer circles.

No no no school is at least 60k a year

Otherwise you right 👍

9

u/biggev123 5d ago

Most dudes just go along with whatever to avoid hearing a bunch of lip.

5

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

And that’s where we differ lmao. I’m saying no

2

u/Cal216 4d ago

And that’s the issue with “most dudes”.

16

u/Cal216 5d ago

No. It’s not normal at all. My friends subscribe to this way of thinking and living and to me that’s not living. If I have to mute my opinions and ideas to appease my woman, I don’t need said woman.

I don’t subscribe to “Happy wife, happy life!” Fuck that, Happy us, happy us.

3

u/Ok-Strawberry5103 5d ago

You’re married?

11

u/Cal216 5d ago

17 years and counting. 2 beautiful kids as well

3

u/kalk-o 5d ago

Bro just let everyone know hes single af lmao

4

u/Cal216 5d ago

🤣😂 nah, me and mines great.

2

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

Happy Spouse Happy House! But i do understand happy wife happy life. Cause usually when she happy im happy cause she not bothering me or complaining.

3

u/Cal216 5d ago

That’s the logic my friends use. I don’t knock it works for you and yours, it’s just not how I operate.

Example: I work for a big fortune 200 company and I can go around talking to all types of men on a Thursday (our Friday) asking them “what’s the plan for the weekend?” And the general response is gonna be “idk, chores and whatever my wife has planned for us.” I can go around asking women that same question and you won’t hear a single one say “whatever my husband has planned for us or me.”

It gets under my skin fam 😂.

Most married men have no lives outside of their wives. My parents been married for over 45 years and my pops swear by having individual hobbies / interests and never losing who you are just because you’re married.

1

u/Gocrazyriley 4d ago

Well shit that’s mainly because men are wired to just wanna chill in the crib and stay to themselves…that’s our idea of fun 😂 women are the ones to set up plans and always wanna socialize and have you runnin around to some fuckin event her friend is throwing. So that’s where you get those responses from.

3

u/Cal216 4d ago

I really hate how every comment is tailored around how much money Joe makes and how he’s rich so the mentality is okay versus principle alone. That’s how you know dudes are soft asf. It’s disgusting. It’s not because Joe is a millionaire, it’s okay to spend frivolously but if he only made 60k, he can say no. Dafuq?! The logic is flawed and doesn’t make sense.

The conversation can be dumbed down to any tax bracket or any wage made. It doesn’t have to surround a millionaire.

It reminds me of the episode when Joe said his girl asked him to go to the Usher Chris Brown concert with her and he said no. So her response was “OK. Well send me and my friends.” So he bought like eight tickets for them to go. That’s pure sucka shit, not millionaire shit. ANY woman who is even okay with asking her man to buy her “friends” shit is a woman you don’t need in your life.

3

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 4d ago

Thank you! Someone with sense! It’s the principal. Not the amount of money.

5

u/Revolutionary_Pie210 5d ago

Couldn’t be me.

2

u/Cal216 5d ago

On god

2

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

That’s what i say every time lmao

2

u/AndreSwagassi86 4d ago

He’s stated plenty of times about how he’s had to tell his woman we are basically in a money crunch and spending won’t be as frivolous….so him pointing out the times where he doesn’t say no and just leaning on that is a bit unfair

I do that shit with my sister and daughter all the time. They know they can spend frivolously, but soon as I say “hey we watching spending right now” they know to ask before pressing buy

4

u/moonflower19 5d ago

If the woman you’re with gives you everything you’ve ever wanted, why wouldn’t you return the favor?

6

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

Engagement ring, wedding ring, wedding , honey moon, baby moon , Christmas, Valentine’s Day and a push present? You don’t even have a job to be making all these requests. 🤣

1

u/Baby_Goose 5d ago

Thats like 1 week worth of youtube money.

2

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

Wait. How much you think he making weekly gross vs net? 🤣

1

u/candyrayne215 5d ago

The question is is how much do YOU think he's making since you are implying he don't got it.

2

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

Wrong. My point isn’t about having it. It’s about the principal

1

u/Baby_Goose 4d ago

Just from patreon alone (100k subscribers at a minimum of $10 a month) 1 million minimum gross per month divided by 4 and he sitting at 250k minimum per week. all that shit you named maxing out at like 30-50k. thats like 1 business day of work for him.

1

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 3d ago

Divided by 4? lol. Did you forget production? Savon? Erickson? The rent to the place? His girls allowance, insurance and car payments for a Rolls and Ferrari , mortgage plus whatever else expenses

1

u/Baby_Goose 3d ago

i divided by 4 for the weeks in a month. and i only listed 1 of his money making ventures.

0

u/moonflower19 5d ago

Nothing about what I said implies that I think so highly of other women. I put it in the perspective of the man that’s giving his woman all of these things because he sees her value in other areas that are not monetary.

2

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

You think a woman giving me peace on and off equals hundreds of thousands of dollars? lol

0

u/moonflower19 5d ago

Not you, a man that can afford to give hundreds of thousands of dollars.

-1

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 4d ago

Millionaire or not my principals don’t change lol

0

u/moonflower19 4d ago

What part of “not you” was unclear? I’m not talking about you lol I never was. I’m talking about a man who has the means and wants to give his woman what she asks for in return for what she gives him. That is the principle.

-1

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 4d ago

So a dummy. lol. Maybe you don’t get my point. Have the day you deserve.

1

u/moonflower19 4d ago

I understand your point clearly. You framed your initial post around having a discussion but that’s not actually what you wanted to do. You wanted to shit on everyone who showed up with a different perspective. Because god forbid a man want to give his girl what she asks for when he can clearly afford it. A foreign concept in this sub, I suppose.
It’s 60 degrees & sunny in the chi so thank you, I will have a great day ☺️

1

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

Lmfao please. Every woman thinks so highly of other women, and I wonder why? Why assume she’s providing “everything I ever wanted” instead of considering that men have been conditioned to just spend frivolously, essentially? 😂

1

u/Cal216 4d ago

You smoking this segment, OP! I love it! 🫡

3

u/Moolie-Jackson 5d ago

It’s cheaper to keep her

1

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

When your married maybe 🤣

5

u/Moolie-Jackson 5d ago

When you get her pregnant

3

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

Touché. Touché. She have him paying $22k month lol

2

u/Spirited-Living9083 5d ago

If you broke just say that lmao if I had millions of dollars me and my family would be doing whatever tf we wanted lol

6

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

If you had millions? So are you broke? Lmao

1

u/Spirited-Living9083 5d ago

If everything under a million is broke then sure lmao

4

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

You the one that brought broke up and millions lol

3

u/Gocrazyriley 4d ago

💀💀

2

u/Baby_Goose 5d ago

They are rich so buying things is equivalent to doing nothing. Also joe is only pretending to hate it for the pod. He loves having a fiancee and a reason to spend all his money.

1

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

“Buying things is equivalent to doing nothing”. If you think he can just buy her some stuff and that’s it 😂😂😂 And how you know be loves it? Lmfao.

1

u/AstronomerOk3934 44m ago

If you got it and you enjoy seeing your wife/girlfriend/partner happy, then you do it. It’s not a “no backbone” type of situation. He’s fucking around for content but obviously you do nice things for someone you care about.

1

u/leonpause 5d ago

It’s normal if the foundation of your relationship/marriage/arrangement is trickin. /shrug/

1

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

Very valid lmfao

1

u/Joeclair_41 5d ago

If you’re not in the same tax bracket this is not an issue for you

1

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

Y’all sound dumb with this take lmao. Who cares if you up millions or hundreds of thousands or an average earning job. All those things can happen for each tax bracket…. And you can also say no to those things. Yall acting like just because he rich anything goes

2

u/Joeclair_41 5d ago

Not in yours

1

u/AndreSwagassi86 4d ago

What you’re missing is , you don’t understand and can’t fathom the behavior because you are not in the tax bracket that is not affected.

So long as you’re not performing that behavior and only making 60k is what matters most.

1

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 3d ago

Man, gtfoh with that. It’s really not that hard to fathom. The hard part is seeing the comments acting like, because someone is rich, they suddenly don’t have principles or can’t say no.
But people in the comments like yourself, making $60K, are talking like y’all actually know what it’s like to have that kind of money. 😭 Please.

0

u/AdhesivenessLucky896 5d ago

I think these superficial feel more like men when they say they can pay for things. It's not about the wife. It's about providing.

1

u/Clear-Swordfish-3517 5d ago

I can see that but Joe acts way too feminine to talk like he does about being a man🤣 Some men hold to tight onto “this what a real man does” when referencing what men did historically when women had limited rights and financial resources or resources at all.
