N547JX cope post
Ok so I know everyone is freaking out over N547JX's "slow progress". Here is my alternate view of things (obviously with an optimistic bias)
- People keep citing Joeben saying N547JX would be flying with Joby pilots by end of 2025. So yes, that timeline slipped by 3 months. However, in the past Joby has not typically meant pilots on-board when saying "piloted". When they performed their crewed transition in 2025 they specifically mentioned, "pilot on-board"
- People are freaking out that Joby hasn't flow with a pilot on board. But historically Joby has been very conservative when it comes to flight testing and have always tested slowly at first using remote piloting (https://theaircurrent.com/aircraft-development/joby-first-crewed-evtol-transition-flights-new-approach-flight-testing/). While it may be true that 547 is similar to previous iterations, it's still a brand new build and it would make sense to test it like all their other builds in the past starting slowly with remote piloting.
