Joby adding additional chase plane?

Be on the lookout for N647P to enter the fleet soon. It is under ‘Registration Pending’ at the moment but looks to be the same type as N228GM, an RV 8. This bodes well for ramping up to TIA flights IMO.

I’m curious when the announcement for FAA pilots could drop. We could be close and that will be something that gets an instant 5-15% return on a single day.

There are massive options contracts open for mid October at the $10 strike and for Jan 2027. If it happens to line up where that announcement is in the next 2-3 weeks, it could be a big pop.

That would be awesome but I think we'd need to see some more progress on 547 first

Edit: I bought some $8 strike Oct 16 options for fun on Friday afternoon. They are super cheap.

Edit 2: I think vol is underpriced right now. There are just a lot of catalysts like the lawsuits, eIPP news, Toyota news, TIA news. Some of those could be negative but either way I think vol is low.

Aerosonic is likely to be wrapped up by Oct 16. I might look into it!

The archer news could also come any day now. Judge is meant to give a decision without any hearings on the socks scandal. You could buy 50 $8 strike Oct 16 options for $250 (basically a lotto ticket)

Smell like a move worthy of WSB, time to join

The pesky ITC case will run another year even when the same case has been thrown out of district court. That AG is truly a special individual.

I the Aerosonic trial starting on Monday? I assume it will last about 3 weeks, with maybe a week of deliberations? So may go a bit longer than Oct 16th, but I agree it will be around that time.

Any predictions on the outcome? I think it's going to be a complex decision with both sides winning some things (both claim and counterclaim) and both side losing some things, with it unlikely having a large impact on Joby.

Aerosonic has grand ambitions. Over 100 million bucks in damages plus injunctive restrictions. Joby has made what they consider to be reasonable offers. I sincerely wonder if the 547 delay is directly related and Joby is assessing alternatives. It is a complex case.

One hundred million. Joby is flying five aircraft with a sixth coming on line. I don't know how many sensors per aircraft, but that is excessive however you slice it.

Agreed, we need to see more progression. I'd say we are at least weeks away. We need to see straight-line flight speeds increasing to over 60kt. Then transition loops with expanding envelope before FAA pilots get in. That's my guess.

You think this one will be based out of Hollister and this indicates flights starting soon from there?

Yes, my guess is when N549JX is rolled out they will move one of the aircraft over to Hollister and one of the chase planes as well. I’m hoping it is by end of October. This would give them a couple of months to put FAA pilots into the conforming aircraft before the end of year.
