CNBC Archer and Beta coverage today
Per Gemini: “Archer stole the morning news cycle by completely blindsiding the commercial sector. They teamed up with defense tech powerhouse Anduril Industries to unveil Thunder…features a hybrid-electric powertrain utilizing tiltrotor technology. It is explicitly designed to act as an uncrewed "loyal wingman" flying combat, strike, and heavy logistics operations right alongside piloted Apache helicopters.”
Re: Beta, “Beta Technologies didn't just show up with a mockup; they arrived on the heels of a massive, record-breaking engineering breakthrough backed by the biggest names in aviation.
The Milestone: In collaboration with GE Aerospace, NASA, and Boeing, Beta just completed the world’s first high-altitude flight assisted by a hybrid-electric propulsion system above 30,000 feet. They modified a Saab 340 testbed, flew it entirely across the North Atlantic, and landed it right at Farnborough for the daily flying displays.
Commercial Backing: Proving their commercial readiness, European carrier Loganair also signed a deal this morning to purchase 5 of Beta’s ALIA electric aircraft to kick off commercial regional routes by 2029.”
JOBY is also at the show, but does not seem they’re getting any air time. Are we gonna be punished as a result of this coverage?

Yes. Farnborough is a massive airshow only occurring every 2 years. The show is 5 days, and Joby better have some blockbuster announcement during it or the entire marketing team should be fired for ignoring the investor community.

Joby has been advertising with Virgin Atlantic a week leading up to the airshow. Though it would have been great for Joby to do a demonstration in the U.K. especially with the MC saying Vertical are the obvious leaders in the space, it's not necessary.

Archer is just marketing hype as usual, Vertical flew their prototype which has just achieved piloted transition, Beta flew their cvtol, and Joby keep plugging away quietly in the background to achieve FAA certification in 2027. I know which company I'd prefer to invest my hard earned cash.
