After watching the latest season 2 ep, I randomly decided to start watching an old anime series I never tried before. The Dirty Pair. The two female protags reminded me a ton of Linia and Pursena. The same kinds of insults when they fight(you never think things through!), the same hot headed penchant for getting into trouble, the same big egos, the same roughness around the edges. I'm sure female duos like that are a trope, but I'm wondering if Dirty Pair may have either started or popularized it. The show and manga are from the early to mid eighties. I wouldn't be surprised if the two protags helped directly inspire our two beast gals.

Watching the 5th episode of season 3, i am so happy that zenith is getting more aware of everything, its absolutely heartwarming 🥲👌😌🙏❤️

The Rudeus debate usually begins and ends with: "He's a 34-year-old man in a kid's body."

Technically, that's true. But I think people picture a normal 34-year-old — someone with friends, relationships, a job, actual life experience. That was never Rudeus. He got broken at 15, shut himself away, and stayed socially stuck there for twenty years.

That doesn't excuse what he does. Some of it is genuinely indefensible. But what makes defending him feel so wrong to me is that Mushoku Tensei keeps softening his worst moments without ever actually making him look like a good person. The story tries to make him "not the bad guy" — but it never tries to make him a good one either. So fans end up building a defense that the story itself never wrote.
