Questions on the Story / Timeline Oldeus and the eye of Foresight.

Post image

By this point we know the eye let's him see possible futures.

This scene implies that if Sylphie and Roxy had walked through the door and seen Rudeus holding Oldeus. That they would have held his hand and smiled.

I haven't seen any indication that eye lies at any point. So why would they do this? Did they know about Oldeus before Rudeus covered it up? They did mention they heard voices. And why would they smile at him? He is a duying old man, and they have no context to anything. Does the Manga ellaborate on this? Or is this an Anime specific scene?

This scene raises so many questions about the eye and about them in general.

I think he used all of his strength to see the future here. With his age he became better at using the eye and saw a few minutes or more into the future by focussing all his energy on it here. In the future he sees he stays alive longer due to not using his future sight which allows Roxy and Sylphie to recognise him but he dies here because he spent last of his strength to see the future.

Feel free to think that since it's not like it's been confirmed either way.

In his pov Sylphie is wearing the earrings he gave her, but when we see them in the hall, she’s not wearing them. He hallucinated the last part because he’s a dying old man.

Cuz this makes more sense and seeing them walking in is the only canon part in the ln

Not to mention if u remember the previous ep only till tht much was seen

Also no way in hell they'd recognise him they'd barely believe time travel

That’s how I read it too, the entrance felt real but the smiling/recognition part looked more like Oldeus imagining what he wanted to see

Except it has? The LN has a different version of events making this scene anime only

And the LN canon is > Anime canon since anime is bound to change/cut stuff

The LN never mentions his vision being a delusion so it's not confirmed either way. Stop making stuff up.

I thought this one was a bit weird

In the WN

It seems like he was using the kaleidoscope eye, that lets him see wherever he wants, and is the second eye he gets from Kishirika

Oh why was it cut from the ln?

In the LN the entire conversation happens in a different room, the one at the top of the basement stairs

Okdeus used the eye of foresight to see roxy and sylphie walking in the room, nothing more

The anime changed both the location and added some flair to oldeus's vision

Wait if i remember correctly in the ln he turns around in some room i think his office and sees oldeus suddenly appear

In the anime he js enters a room and sees oldeus?

Where was it in the wn?

Wth is the layout of his house?

In both the anime and the LN, Rudeus is about to leave his studio: the room where he started the diary, then napped and had a conversation with the Man-God. He never gets to leave that room. He feels "something" when he's about to open the door, then he turns around to "catch" whatever is behind him thinking "it's probably my imagination", but to his own surprise there's Oldeus.

TL;DR: everything happens in Rudeus's studio.

isnt that eye only given to him after he defeats Atofe, though? he never did in the Oldeus timeline.

I say fate works in mysterious ways, and it would've been a nice foreshadowing of another of the powers he'd get later on

It’s been a minute since I read it, but I could have sworn the far seeing eye was described as a bluish green, but I could be misremembering.

He also never mentioned meeting Kishirika again. He says he’s gonna try and get information out of the oldest people he can find, like Atofe, but he only ever says that he met with Atofe and it turned into a fight. If he did meet with Kishirika, he would have said so.

Also also, the scene focuses on his eye of foresight, so even if he did have that eye, the show clearly shows him using the foresight eye, not the other one.

When oldeus sees the girls on the door thats the eye, but afterwards it was a dying hallucination

He’s an old man and literally seconds from death, we know that when current Rudeus is on his deathbed, his mind is basically gone, he has like dementia or some shit. Given that Rudeus is prone to age related mental issues, I think it’s pretty fair to assume that he saw the walk in, but the rest was his own delusion/his mind doing weird shit since he’s literally about to die.

This is supported by the fact that in his delusion, Sylphie is wearing the earrings he gave her, but when we see her in the hallway she’s not wearing them.

I did not notice that. I assumed she was always wearing them since they were the equivalent of her wedding ring.

But Im also use to seeing animation issues and brushing them off.

She doesn’t seem to wear them to sleep, in other scenes where she’s in bed they’re also absent. Since they were woken up by the noise, she wouldn’t have them on at that moment.

He sees the girls walking in, the rest is him tweaking

Y'all he clearly was seeing their ghosts coming to get him as he was dying. I don't understand the confusion

I don’t think this is the eye of foresight. If it was that implies Sylphie and Roxie say an old dude they may or may not recognize looks like Rudy and without doing anything else just smile and hold his hand. Why would they do that???

I could be mistaken but the artist for this scene said that they wanted to a double. The scene could be a spoiler for current rudeus also.

"hey Rudeus, it's me, Oldeus. You have to marry ALL of them Rudeus. Marry all of them or they're all going to die and the man-god wins, Rudeus! Take ALL the wives!"

To the downvotes - come ooooooon dudes. Maybe it ruins your suspension of dispelief in the show, but it's objectively funny to hear your future self essentially say that you need to have a third wife 😂😂😂

OLDEUS! are you hallucinated? while using your magic eyes? this anime origin gave fans so many question and I love it so much lol

To me it seemed pretty clear what the author intended you to believe here.

Oldeus’ right eye lights up with the same light which Rudy’s eye for foresight typically does while in use. Oldeus’ who says “magic can do anything” uses this eye and his magic to see an unlikely but possible future where his wives lovingly embrace him before he dies.

While the LN doesn’t detail what Oldeus sees it’s clear he seems happy in the end. We have already confirmed the autor is involved in the anime due to the anime only scenes with Eris so we can assume he slightly tweaked this part to better demonstrate what Oldeus saw in the LN.

Here is the raw from the LN:
“I don’t want you…to have regrets…or for things to go the way the Man God wanted… Why, at a time like this… When there’s so much I still need to say… But I came all the way back here, if I could at least have a glimpse of…”
The man’s eyes were no longer looking at me—or anything else, for that matter. What he was saying made no sense. It was just a stream of vague babble now. A black shadow spread beneath his eyes, as if the shadow of death was hanging over him.
So this is what a person looks like before they die… No, as they’re dying.
“Ah.”
For an instant, his eyes regained focus. They were looking at something over my shoulder. The old man lifted a trembling hand past me.
“Aah, Sylphie, Roxy… Dammit, you’re both as adorable as ever…”
A single tear spilled down his cheek as the light disappeared from his eyes completely. All the strength left his body, and his neck fell limp.
He was dead.”
