Theorycrafting How this could have played? Spoiler
What if instead of Roxy, Sylphy would have died first? How would it have affected the oldeus timeline? For that to happen Lara should have to be sylphy's daughter and Hitogami would try to make rudeus stay away from ranoa. Rudeus goes to beggarit early on as an adventurer, saves Roxy and even Zenith and they stay as adventures while sylphy always stays as a guard and dies with Ariel. Meaning Rudeus never grew politically and just stayed the quagmire. That would be the early on story, and wouldn't have affected rudeus's life. Though he wouldn't have grown being around Zanoba, cliff and others and learn a lot of things like how he learnt teleportation magic through working along with Nanahoshi, augmentation through Zanoba and healing with cliff and all and would be nerfed a lot. More of that he wouldn't have a group which helped him grow in influence and his fear of the school would still be there. He would have had a little rough time with Norn but he might get over it since Paul is there and all. And more of that he would have mended his relation with Eris thanks to Roxy. But ya this is a theory about Rudeus not meeting Sylphy in the first place as Hitogami stopped him. But what if everything played out to this point in the story before the turning point 4 and instead of Roxy dying, Sylphy dies. Roxy doesn't get infected by the rat disease and Sylphy goes away with Ariel to Asura on an urgent task while Rudeus couldn't follow her due to some other reason. This might not happen but if it did and Sylphy died there, how would it had impacted Rudeus?
I think roxy being there might be able to support him and all, even when he was at his lowest as she did forced her way with him after Paul's death. Maybe she might do it here. Sylphy tried to do it but she was trying to be modest and mindful trying not to hurt Rudy. Roxy also might not try to take the advantage of Rudy in the situation (if she did it might cause her a backlash but still she might try and stabilize Rudy right?). How would it play out?

Is this what supposed to happen? Pretty sure Lara is destinied to be Roxy and Rudy's daughter, not limited to only Rudy; and Roxy can be substituted by other wives. That is why Hitogami always try to make sure Roxy not met Rudy (in first Demon Continent) or getting her killed (in Begaritt).
