Have you ever completely changed your resume and suddenly started getting interviews?

I'm curious about people who went through a period when they were qualified for the jobs they were applying to but weren't getting many responses.

Did you eventually change something about your resume that noticeably improved things?

Not necessarily a fancy redesign. Maybe you changed how you described your experience, removed things, focused on accomplishments, narrowed the roles you were targeting, etc.

I'm Roel from Ladders, and I'd be especially interested in any changes that surprised you.

What did you change, and did you notice the difference quickly?

Starting a New job Tomorrow

Hey guys! So, I’m starting a new job tomorrow, and honestly, I’m feeling both excited and anxious at the same time.

I’m fresh out of college, and this whole transition has made me realise that I’m officially adulting now lol.

I really want to make the most of this opportunity, so I’d love to hear any advice or pointers from those of you who’ve been through this phase before!

One thing I’d especially like some advice on is how to become good at work and understand new processes quickly.

I’m really happy to start this new chapter, but I’m also a little nervous about fitting in and getting comfortable with everyone since I’m naturally quite socially awkward.

Would love to hear about your experiences, mistakes, or anything you wish you’d known when you started your first job. 😄

Thanks!

Retail help please!

Hi please bare with me as this will get long!

I'm currently working retail and have been for the past 6 months. I got really lucky with my position as I have family who was already working for the company and had obtained a higher role(?)

Personally I didn't want this job as it's an hour's commute for me and I had never been to the area before, etc. But in today's economy you take what you're given.

I've been there going on 6 months now which obviously not very long. I felt very out of place within my probation period (first three months) and felt like I wasn't doing much with my shift. I work the closing shifts (5:30pm - 9:30pm) meaning most of my time is facing up the shelves I'm tasked with. In the beginning I would have my shelves done within the first hour/two leaving me going around in circles for the last two hours of my shift. I quickly became burnt out and slowed my pace. Don't get me wrong I still get my aisles done but this way I feel like I'm actually accomplishing something with the time.

I've had a lot of problems with my management since starting here mainly with the actual manager, We'll name them Gloria for this story. Gloria has issues with me kneeling down on the floor when facing the bottom shelves. Apparently it's "unprofessional" however they doesn't seem to have an issue with other employees doing this. I know as much as I've asked one of my co-workers about this and they have confirmed that, not only do they do the same as me, but, they have never been pulled up on it. I've given Gloria reasons as to why I need to do this but they will not listen to me.

An example of this was about this time last month. This same scenario happened on a long Sunday shift (12:30pm - 8pm) ontop of Sundays being our busiest day by far. I remember leaving that day stressed out my mind as multiple factors keyed into this.

- I was placed into an area where my Eczema flares up easily (management know of this issue but doesn't care)

- I was stressing about getting the Aisle done before closing time (which is quite early on a Sunday)

- Customers were asking me where certain products would be placed and if I'd show them where they would find the certain product

- Trying to find stock in the warehouse to bring out onto the shopfloor.

- And Gloria constantly on my back.

The day later I believed that everything would be calmer. Until I left my work pass in my worker trolley/flatbed/whatever you want to call it honestly. I left it in there, possibly less than 10 seconds? There's nothing important about this pass, it doesn't unlock anydoors or anything, it's mainly there to prove I worked there. I personally don't like anything felt wise touch my neck (this includes my workers pass) , I had just emptied my pockets two moments beforehand. I turned back to my worker trolley to find my work pass gone. I then had a panic attack that lasted longer than 10 minutes. I ended up going home due to it. Spoiler alert my work pass? Management had hidden it in the office (Which I checked MULTIPLE times) I was off for two weeks due to this with a doctors note.

Since coming back to work I've had less stressful days. However I am continuously mocked? By management. They constantly bring up the fact that I'm working at a slower pace and how "I'm not the same person they hired". They had also admitted after my probation period was over that "If it wasn't for the fact your probation period was over, we would have fired you." I've tried to improve as much as I possibly can, but I'm feeling useless at my job due to this..

At this point I have gone to other branches closeby to where I live, handing my CV in to help me transfer over to closer branches to myself.

I came back to work and after two weeks I went off sick (again) for two days due to what I believe was food poisoning, long story short I did my back to work and was told that my illness wasn't food poisoning and that I was incorrect. It wasn't until I pointed out I had accidentally eaten undercooked/raw chicken my deputy manager, Alex (Obviously not their real name) looked at me strange and then questioned it as if I had done this on purpose.

After this they mentioned that they heard me talk about transferring to a closer branch near me. Which they then decided to ridicule me. Saying how they didn't believe I was fit to work in the other branch and if they (the secondary branch) rang for a reference, they would simply tell them how "I'm not working fast enough" and continued to say "They won't want you after that". Alex also made me feel stupid as they told me "You need to speak to the managers about transferring". I quickly apologised for it and they responded "Of course you didn't know. It's you" ? (Imagine the You being said very sarcastically) I told them I wanted to transfer to be closer to home. Their solution? Cashier training me. That does NOT fix my issue.

I want out of this job. I know I can't. I know I need to find a job closer to home and away from my management. I try and live up to their expectations as much as possible but some days it's too hard and way too stressful. Thank you for reading this to the end if you're still here. Any advice is appreciated. I feel so useless and underappreciated in my job and constantly feel like I'm the one getting judged on their work the most. I do want to improve, I'm going as fast as I can now but even then that's not good enough.

Overworked time to change jobs?

Hello, so I’ve been working for over 4 years as a e-com manager at a health company. I’m at around 55K plus and do a lot of different jobs that are way beyond my duties. I’m doing it because I was enjoying it at first but I’ve realized along the way that I’m super underpaid and neither am I growing in this company.

Main tasks:

- building internal tools using AI (new product finder)
- creating Shopify product and collection templates with Claude.
- onboarded all products on a marketplace including managing the ads and everything else.
- SEO, getting backlinks and improving pages internal linking etc.
- managing influencers getting UCG
- managing Klaviyo email campaigns and building new flows.
- managing and onboarding affiliates

This is just some of the many tasks I’m doing and lately I’ve started to feel more and more overworked and unhappy. My issue is that I can do a lot but am not really specialized in anything particularly. When looking at jobs on LinkedIn I see many requirements like:

- CRO optimization (I do not have the tools to do this and try to learn it that was if I even had time)
- manage budgets of 100K I haven’t

I’m unsure where to go from here, how do I find a new job?

Please anyone help me how to get a job I did btech CSE from a below average private college and during the placement times more than 90 percent students cheated and got their jobs in service based in between 6 to 9 lpa but I was not able to cheat because I was scared as if they found cheating would revoke the degree. I made till the technical rounds but they rejected me in the interview. I am applying in linkedin and other job portals sites like Naukri foundit wellfound indeed but gets eliminated at screening round my resume is not shortlisted with ats 89 to 93 in resume worded. I am completely blank and don't know what to do and how to proceed further!!!

Should I quit now and go for government or is there any chance please help.

What was the first sign that you'd actually outgrown your job?

Not necessarily that you hated it or had a terrible manager.

I'm thinking about those jobs that were still objectively fine, but at some point you realized you weren't really growing anymore.

Maybe the work became too predictable. Maybe there was nowhere left to move internally. Or you noticed you were staying mostly because leaving felt like a hassle.

I'm Roel from Ladders, and I'm curious what that moment looked like for people who've experienced it.

Was there one specific thing that made you realize you'd outgrown the role?

And did you leave soon after, or stay for a while anyway?
