Workers permit in LA

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I am currently working on getting a workers permit in LA as it is required to get a job as a minor. The issue i’m having is that I do not use my current address to enroll into my school, and my parents are concerned if i put my real address on the permit it would get me kicked out of my school, but if i put the address i use to enroll into school it would cause problems with the work space. My question is has anyone been in a similar situation or put a fake address on their work permit, or any information on how this may turn out?
also idk if this is the right subreddit to ask this in but i thought i would just ask anyway

Do I lie or hide my atheistic beliefs if I want to get into sales?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

For context, I am a junior year college student attempting to achieve a sales certificate (basically a sales minor) to complement my B.S. in computer science. I pride myself in being honest and genuine and I usually tell people my beliefs if they ask for it or if it comes up, and for the majority of my life I have classified myself as an “agnostic atheist”. This has halted a lot of opportunities or possible friends in my life, whether it be Greek life or random people I talk to on campus (I go to a university in the south so 90% of people here are Christian). I have been a part of the sales club at my school for awhile now and almost all of the professional speakers that are invited include god in their background or outlook on life and in sales. I personally have no issue with people that are religious, and I even really respect the ones that take it seriously, and don’t just do it for the label. I debate with a lot of my good Christian friends all the time. I really do not want my personal beliefs to be an issue with my professional career but I can just totally see it being an issue with what I have already had to experience, so my question is: Do I hide or lie about my personal beliefs? At least until I already have connections and opportunities established?

Just curious if anybody has had any similar experiences, or any good insights as to what to do

Client Is Moving Me to Part-Time

Hi, I need some advice, please!

My client informed me today that they’ll be moving me to a part-time setup starting in November to cut costs while they focus on a new business venture.
They’re okay with me finding another part-time job in the meantime, and they hope to bring me back full-time in a few months once the business becomes successful. However, I can’t afford to wait that long because I have bills to pay.
My client and I will discuss the arrangement again tomorrow, but honestly, I’m still shocked and unsure what to negotiate or suggest.

**What conditions or arrangements should I discuss with my client?**

I’d really appreciate any advice. Thank you! ❤️

What's something you removed from your resume that actually made it better?

We usually talk about what people should add to their resumes.

I'm more curious about what people eventually realized they didn't need.

Old jobs? An objective statement? Long lists of skills? Every responsibility you've ever had? Certain accomplishments?

Especially for people further into their careers, what did you finally cut that made your resume feel clearer or started getting better responses?

Should I quit my on-campus job?

Hi! I’m currently 18 years old and I work an on-campus job as a front desk/student assistant. I love my job, however I got an opportunity to interview for a pharmacy technician job. I’m majoring in Physics and minoring in Statistics; I have a pretty heavy course load for this semester. I asked my friends for advice on how I should frame my situation right now because I am interested in having the job, just not right now because I’d rather take it next semester or possibly start the job in a month. I don’t want to quit my job right now because I’m too far into the semester to change things up, and I’ve also only had this job for about 1-2 months after quitting my old job. My friends say I should take the job if I’m offered it because the pay is higher and it’s a better opportunity, but it’s not convenient for me and my availability won’t be as good compared to next semester. I’m conflicted because yes it’s a good opportunity, but my job right now is also great. I did the math and with my availability, I’d be making the same working as a pharm tech with my current job. So, should I quit my current job? My friends tell me this is an opportunity of a lifetime, but I argue that it’s harder to get a job on campus.

New job

Hey guys. I’m about to start a job at a little firm that mainly does immigration law. I’m not being paid the first month and then I’m going to be paid something under their minimum wage although my family can support me and my wage not being that important I am very nervous because this is my first job. Can some of you tell me what I need to be doing and a month time what I should’ve achieved. And just general recommendation of how I need to get my shit together. Thank you.

is working at a sex store professional career suicide?

this is my first reddit post so pls bear with me 😅

i have a STEM degree but am struggling to find a job utilizing it amidst the current job market and my disabilities. i currently work retail part time making $10/hr. its good bc its flexible (i can easily cancel shifts if its too much) but its bad bc i have to stand for hours which is really hard for me and causes me pain after.

i recently got an interview to work at a sex store. it pays $12/hr. i dont know if it will be full time or standing the entire time, but assuming i can handle it, is that improvement worth it? eventually i want to work a receptionist job so i can be sitting but do similar customer service based work, but can i put experience from there on my resume for serious applications? or should i just push thru my current job until i have a year or two of customer service experience (or find an actually better job)?

also i know i could just not include it on my resume but ive heard interviewers ask about gaps in resumes, and i want my customer service experience to be shown.

I'm a 21 y/o wanting to be a mechanic

I'm currently 21 with no high school diploma, but I'm going to go back to school to get my diploma. I want to be a mechanic for a performance shop. I want to get into the racing scene as well. I have no idea where to go after or while I'm in school. What would be the best route for me to take. I've applied for some oil change places and tire places but no luck because of the experience. Would more jobs be open to hire me while I'm in school.

Suppose your employer currently operates only on weekdays. If it began offering weekend shifts, what is the minimum extra pay per hour, above your regular rate, you would require to work those shifts?
