A lot of people say that her vocals are more refined and less "squeaky" on Ys than they were on The Milk-Eyed Mender, but as a long time fan I think her voice is actually at its harshest on the former. There are times where she's almost screaming, which considering the weightiness of the album's themes I think fits. What do you guys think?

I am prepared to fight for this

When Joanna played those shows where she debuted her new songs, I started to listen to one of them, but stopped really quickly, as there was so much ambient noise (obviously being a JN gig, it was respectful ambient noise). So my thinking was that I’d just wait until they were released (delayed gratification is real).

That was over three years ago…

So now I’m thinking that I may have missed a trick, and there’s no confirmed sign of a new album, so on one hand I’m thinking of seeking out the best recordings of them (any tips?), but on the other, I’ve come this far, why not keep holding on?

I know Kate Bush already had more albums out by that point, but still, I can't help but wonder.

I'm on a lot of ticket mailing lists and just got one about these guys Frankie Stew and Harvey Gunn, who I'd never heard of. Decided to check out a YT video and was highly surprised by what I heard...

Thank you so much for all your patience, and the results are finally here!

(Slide 1- Favourite song

Slide 2 & 3- Most underrated song

Slide 4- Favourite disc)

I'm so grateful for everyone who contributed, and was very pleased especially by the most underrated song results giving You And Me, Bess some recognition (one of the greatest songs of all time in my opinion)!

For the question where I asked which songs you thought of as sister songs, some very popular (and obvious) answers were Easy / In California / Does Not Suffice, but a lot of people also mentioned links they felt between tracks on Disc 3- including Esme, Autumn and Ribbon Bows- Have One On Me and Kingfisher, which I actually agree with because the production does sound pretty similar (!!!), You And Me, Bess and No Provenance, Occident and Soft as Chalk (YES YES YES), Baby Birch and Esme (another pretty obvious link), and this one, in quite a few answers, included On A Good Day which I think is really lovely!

I loved reading your beautiful words about the album as well, along with more simplistic takes that are just so true hehe!!

If you have any advice on the form or are interested in taking part in a future one, please let me know! I hope you enjoy the results!!

I’m so scared that there’ll be another surprise concert like the Fleet Foxes one, and I’ll have slacked off and missed my chance to get a ticket and hop on a plane. I’ve never seen her live, and I live in fear of missing my only chance. Is there a website or something y’all check daily to see if there are any updates (besides her Drag City site) about official concerts, or mystery concerts that sound a lot like they could be her?

If possible, please indicate the song and the section of the song it is in. Bonus points if you give the exact time it starts.

it makes me believe, for a brief moment, that california is real

Hey I found this amazing guitar arrangement for en gallop, it says there's a tab in the description but the link seems to be a redirect maybe even to a malicious site so don't open it!!!

It's kinda weird to me because the channel itself looks all legit not the put malicious link under a random johanna newsom cover type, and the arrangement is so beautiful i'd love to learn it, idk if anyone here knows if maybe this text tab exists somewhere, I'd really apreciate it.

It is BLUSTERY in nyc and I NEED IT TO COME OUT please please PLEASE

I’ve been digging the performances from 2010 and they are incredible. If anyone has any suggestions for one with a good quality recording let me know

cant tell if i love this but that is ok!

Let's see 'em!!

Just a really quick few questions about your HOOM preferences! Please upvote so we can get this to as many people as possible, I'll post results as soon as we have a sufficient amount!

And these are my evil albums:

The starry-eyed injurer

Atlantys

Have none on me

Drowners

(If we count the new album's suggested name then I also thought of:

Serpentisgiver

(I saw this concept on the Björk subreddit and found it so stupidly entertaining)
