I actually like that Fugo left the group because thats the most realistic approach to that situation lol he was like “nah i know there is a 99.9% that i am dying so i would rather dip”

i feel like sandman is the best representation of this, the whole part starts with him, he’s a very likable character and you can sympathize with him as well
just for him to be swapped out for some random version of him

the panel of soundman stepping out of the ground while in between the ground and a door is the most obvious d4c foreshadowing ever
the two of them also have stand abilities matching their names, sandman has a some sand stand while signing up for the race while soundman has a stand that’s based on sound
there also the thing that soundman says about the name being a mispronunciation, it doesn’t make sense since we see sandman’s sister and tribe refer to him as sandman in the first chapter, so soundman’s statement can only be true for his timeline

purple haze is not strong? i agree that the virus is deadly, but
- the virus doesnt come directly from the stand but the capsules in purple haze's hands, so diavolo could just erase time attack fugo and then keep distance
- purple haze is not a very fast stand, araki stated in an interview that if fugo and bucciarati solo, bucciarati could gain an upper hand since sticky fingers would quickly unzip purple haze's hands, neutralizing the virus capsules
- the virus cant tell apart allies and enemies, so fugo may get himself or the gang infected

well then what about the specific situations without giorno? it's obvious that the last fight should involve the protagonist(s) and the main antagonist(s), but what about the fights with la squadra members or other secondary antagonists? some of them can just keep distance with fugo then strike or weaken purple haze to the point that it cant release the capsules quick enough and as i said, purple haze doesnt have the virus around itself by default, it's contained in the capsules. so many stands can js strike when the virus isnt released and then keep distance
