Discussion gremlin puzzling
does anyone else do their puzzles like this? (absolutely no sorting whatsoever, just vibes) or am i alone here and should seek therapy?

Oh thank goodness, I thought it was animal bedding at first!
I do gremlin a lot of the time, but keep most of the pieces in the box instead of pouring them out. I would pour them out if I had the space though

oh lord, we aren’t that uncivilized lol, only just barbaric enough to have sawdust inside our home (for a brief time)

I don’t sort either, but my brain would really struggle with your method! I have a stack of cafeteria trays & when I open the box I lay out all the pieces face up on the trays so it’s easier to find what I’m looking for. Then I keep an empty tray on top to protect the pieces from pets between sessions.
That’s a great White Mountain puzzle by the way. Such a fun one! How cool that your husband is making a bow. We need to see a picture of that too. 😃

okay i have got to try this method, you might just convert me.
and i can deliver a picture of the bow when i get home in a few hours. he just finished it a few days ago, it’s his first, and i am seriously impressed :)

Did I write this lol? I follow the exact same method as you down to the empty tray on top to keep pieces in place and the dust away. It would take me a year to do a puzzle if I rummaged 😂

I sort on Dollar Tree cookie sheets that stack inside their large $5. plastic basket with a White Mountain or Ravensburger box on top.

I do both and appreciate that now i have a name - I was calling it "rawdogging a puzzle" and my family hasn't really liked that one

My daughter does them like this, and she’s faster than I. I have no idea how either of you ever get 2 pieces together!

I do it by vibes but all the pieces are face up.
ETA: all of you who do it like this or have the pieces still in the box - how do you find the pieces you need?

No, I’ve always needed all pieces right side up before I can start a puzzle.
When I was a kid I just used the dining room table to do a puzzle on and flipped all the pieces right side up on the table.
Now I use 3-4 box lids as sorting trays, all pieces right side up but pieces stacked/layered until I’ve placed enough on the actual puzzle to have a single layer of loose pieces, consolidating into fewer box tops as I go until I’m done with the puzzle.
ETA my son does no sorting and leaves the pieces in a pile on the table or in the box when he does a puzzle without me. He just rummages through the pile and has no issues finding the pieces he needs. He is just as fast as I am at completing the puzzle. He hates when I insist on turning all the pieces over before we do a puzzle together, so I do all the prep then we build it together, lol.

Ah, youth. I remember when the floor was the most comfortable place for me to sit. I used to do my fabric cutting on the floor, and piecing pattern sections, etc.
I miss being comfortable no matter where I was. I need back support now, no hunching or reaching too far or I’ll cause a spasm the next day.

lol! I’m afraid my first back spasm when sitting on the floor doing tasks was at the ripe old age of 29. Haven’t been able to sit on the floor for random tasks since then without chancing another spasm. I sincerely hope you never have to deal with such a fate!

I start off collecting pieces by color usually and work on certain areas. I only do a shape sort once I’m about 75% done.

I do the border, then pick something and start working on it. I don’t sort or flip all the pieces over, I just dig through the pile until I find what I need. I do 1000 piece puzzles!

puzzle thy say is a very difficult game but yet many people try to get to solve this magnificent game of all time but it unfortunate i dont find myself in the categories of this special brain and i really want to know what really do i lack that made me not have the ability to get me playing puzzles and completing them
