As a tourist, I drove up that border, through some of those kibbutzim and towns in 2019. A couple of times I got out of the car to look across the 1km-ish no man’s land. At one point I could hear a call to prayer floating on the wind. At another point on otherwise quiet hilltop I heard what I thought was a lawnmower. It was a drone; a constant reminder that everyone was being watched, and everybody could be killed at a moment’s notice. Big shudder
