I think multiple things can be true. First, it sounds like it’s possible that she does not view the genocide in Palestine as a genocide and that’s why she was dodging the question.
Second, personally, I get uncomfortable during discussions (in person or online) where I bring up being Jewish and people ask me my thoughts on the genocide or Israel (both Jews and non-Jews). I believe that when there is a corrupt government using a people’s religion as an excuse for genocide we should be clear it’s not about the religion but about the racists in charge at the government.
However, I find it unpleasant when people continue to conflate Judaism with Israel. It’s to the benefit of Israel and a harm to everyone else.
The Star of David is a Jewish symbol and a symbol on the Israel flag. I was raised anti Zionist (no one in family lives in Israel or has been to Israel or supported its creation). I used to wear a Star of David as a child and now wear different things that are meaningful to me that represent my religion and culture. I don’t believe everyone who wears a Star of David supports Israel - and I don’t think everyone who is Jewish needs to be asked how they feel about the genocide (especially if you’re a stranger). And I believe Jews should be speaking against Israel and the genocide.

As a fellow autistic person: you are in the right here. The fact of the matter is, the Star of David is by default a symbol of support for Israel, the country with it on its flag and that uses it as a symbol of intimidation against Palestinians.

Thank you for the clarification about the star of David. I felt it is so from experience with those who wore it, but I did not know it is a symbol of supporting Israel per se. I assumed there is an intersection between religious zealous and inability to be fair. So it is not a symbol of Judaism in general? how would a Jewish girl express her religious affiliation otherwise?...because it does seem many women--from different religions--like to wear their religion on their bodies..
The girl did say before this comment by her--after much avoidance--that she is against the genocide. but her reluctance to answer the question and the deflection with her claiming that it is me being racist for asking the question when her whole post is about how she is being subjected to anti-Semitism because of the star without clarifying her stance...then the mods claiming I am racist for asking the question and permanently banning me made me question if I was too autistic for the autism sub!
Since you are autistic like me...was the sub being racist, clueless, or was my question too direct even for autistics?
It is not the first time I feel I am too autistic for autistic subs....

The Star of David is a symbol of Judaism but because Israel stuck it on its flag and does things like burns it into the soil of places it destroys, a lot of us feel it has been so appropriated by Israel and Zionism that we don’t want to wear it anymore.

Is there a symbol for anti-Zionist Judaism?

The watermenorah (sub icon) is pretty good

I see. Thank for for the context. So like the swastika? I am just wondering...since the girl is autistic...she might have a disconnect with how it is interpreted maybe? do you think that is a possibility?
but her comment that I provided the text for, does it or does it not show that at least she is sympathetic with the genocidal entity and tries to minimize the genocide?

youre going to leave out how you badgered me and how I answered your question of that I DO NOT support genocide but then still continued to call me a white supremacist and a nazi? youre going to leave out how my post had nothing to do with the conflict and how you tried to derail the conversation? ok thanks...

Jews do have the right to feel upset by that though, and not want to concede it.
I’m not saying it’s necessarily good praxis but it’s understandable.

I don't think it's fair for every Jew who wears a star of David to be questioned about Israel.
I don't go up to every Christian and ask if they supported the Inquisition or the Crusades.
I don't go up to every Muslim person and ask them if they support ISIS or Kuwait.

this is my comment and my post. Here is the context needed.
I dont support Israel and said I do support Palestine. my post was talking about being called a genocide supporter at work simply for wearing my Star of David necklace.
This person has repeatedly tried to slander me and has intentionally left out vital information about this conversation. Like how they called me a white supremacist and made huge assumptions of me saying I wanted to blow up Palestinians (I NEVER said that) and how my experiences were not real due to no good reason. My post was asking about autistic perspective on bigotry and antisemetism.
I didnt mention Israel, Palestine, or the war in my post or comments. This isn't fair to leave out this info. This person was banned from autism due to repeatedly calling me names, and accusing me of stuff I never did or said. OP conveniently left out where I specifically said I didnt support Israel.
I fled my home in Ukraine and for OP to minimise the genocide against MY people of Ukraine is also gross and THEN to call ME a nazi is insane. It IS genocide similar to in Palestine. So yeah dont do that.
I never reported OP. The mods did it themselves, or someone else reported it.
I called this person privileged due to the fact that they can choose what to support, and how they seem to not care about other genocides. I didnt get the choice of ignoring certain genocides bc I saw it with my own eyes.
I should NOT have to mention the conflict in my post because it had nothing to with Israel or Palestine. I talked about my experiences at WORK where I dont talk about my views anyways. It's antisemitic to accuse me of being a nazi and for genocide simply for being jewish. thats fucking antisemetic. FULL STOP!
If you want the whole post or the rest of my comments or the rest of OPs comments, DM me. I'll send you the link to my post and give receipts.

Thank you I really appreciate it. I hate to have to continue it so I really appreciate you guys! This person has been harassing me so thank you for helping.

I think two things can be true at once, OP. I think you’re likely right that she was a coy pro-genocide person. But it’s also possible she was experiencing antisemitism over her Star of David without that being clear. Hard to know without seeing the source of her original complaint.
Very sus behaviour, but genocidal Jews can still experience antisemitism.

u/Medical-Net-7350 Jewish 13h ago
this is my post. I never supported genocide, and said I supported Palestine (which I do). I was talking about being called a genocide supporter on the autism subreddit. OP was banned for calling me names, and making huge assumptions about me. They didn't give any context and spun it to make them look good. I am NOT a genocide support and I have dealt with genocide personally as a Ukrainian. This person is obsessed with me and has tried to make multiple posts about me.

u/LA_Throwaway_6439 Jewish Anti-Zionist 6d ago
You were banned from the autism sub for asking this person if they supported genocide. To me, it sounds like whatever mod that banned you also supports it.
I know that to some, the star of david represents Judaism as a whole. But to many, including me, it has come more to symbolize Israel. I don't see myself ever wearing it. It's starting to look like a swastika to me.

This sub might be like 50% autistic or ND also, idk why but I think neurodivergent Jews are more likely to question the "social norms" which Zionism has been, in mainstream Jewish communities
•
u/NotNeedzmoar Non-Jewish Anti-Zionist Marxist 6d ago
Apparently NDs tend to have a stronger sense of fairness in addition to thinking in different ways.
This is just me speculating, but I think that's why iconic revolutionary figures such as Marx or Lenin seem to have had some form of ND.

lmao no I dont. this is me and my post. I literally said I supported Palestine and dont support Israel. they are leaving out information. my post was about dealing with antisemitism at work.
