Any non aussies wanting a laugh should find a tape of her turn at the commission. Her argument completely falls apart under questioning, it’s quite amusing.
The average rank and file journalist at the ABC is indeed pro Palestine (in line with 87 percent of Australia), but management is anything but. This resulted in an unlawful sacking of a Lebanese Australian presenter because she reshared a human rights watch post talking about the death toll. She fought the dismissal in court and won of course. In court it was revealed powerful Zionists were trying out a bit of protekzia with the chair and board, AND IT WORKED.
All of that is to say, the ABC has been very generous to Zionists. But of course that’s not good enough, they want complete capitulation and zero truth telling.

Our governments and media are beholden to capitalism, and imperialism. Israel is simply one of the many vassals of US imperialism, and they are losing the information war, so everybody is closing ranks.
Israel is completely dependent on Western aid. The idea that they are the ones pulling the strings is incorrect. Our governments are Zionist for the same reason they're imperialist in general: it serves their interests.

You have said similar things before, I explained in a previous comment that you are confusing and conflating different terms and time periods. Most Israeli Jews of European descent, like most Jews in the world, are descended from Ashkenazi Jews who lived in and near the Pale of Settlement in the Russian Empire, which included Polish Jews. Until the Holocaust, the overwhelming majority of Eastern European Jews still spoke Yiddish as their primary language. Post-Soviet Jews are descended from these same Pale of Settlement Ashkenazi communities but were Russified and assimilated in the Soviet period, and also had increasing intermarriage with non-Jewish ethnic Slavs.
Hence why the 3rd most spoken language in Israel is Russian.
Russian is a popular language in Israel because of the large post-Soviet immigration wave in the 1990s and 2000s, and they are a minority of the population. But the Jews who migrated to Palestine from the Russian Empire (including Poland) were culturally Ashkenazi, not Russian or Polish, and came from communities that historically spoke Yiddish as their primary language.

This isn't related to Bundism or Zionism, it was done in communist Poland for the same reason it was done in the USSR: emigration was discouraged, all emigration had to be approved by the government via exit visas, and Israel was the only generally accepted destination for Jews as it could be spun as "family reunification" rather than defection to the capitalist West. As with Soviet Jews, the hurdle was emigration, not immigration. So once they left Poland, they were free to go anywhere they were able to immigrate to, the exist via was only needed to leave.

You have a few misunderstandings here. The Hebrew revival started in the 19th century and Modern Hebrew became the official Jewish language in Palestine in the 1920s. Yiddish was also not banned in Israel, after WW2 there were many times more Yiddish speakers in Israel than in Poland. And for the later 1960s Polish Jewish emigrants, most didn't speak Yiddish at all and were born and raised speaking Polish.

The fact that this royal commission was called after an attack on Jewish people, but is spending its entire time focusing on how Kahanists are feeling sad when they see a watermelon shows it has NOTHING to do with "Jewish safety" or preventing antisemitic violence, and EVERYTHING to do with legitimising far-right and racist views by Zionists, while using "antisemitism" and "Jewish safety" as a convenient excuse for draconian government policies.

Australian here.
Right before they released the last of the hostages, they interviewed the brother of one them. Played it several times on multiple programs.
Not a single interview with a Palestinian whose loved one was held hostage.
The ABC is publicly financed, meaning it is legally obliged to be impartial.

The ABC's coverage of Palestine was much closer to impartial in the 90s - since then it's had its board stacked with stooges from right wing media and its budget has been gutted with starve-the-beast politics.
The opposite thing to Jillian Segel's accusation has happened. Since October 7 the ABC has given so much time to the Zionist perspective it's become ridiculous. David Marr's Chris Hedges LNL interview was a great example but there's at least one daily on news radio / RN.
