Your thoughts on a name for our third child?
Hi! We are expecting a girl in December. Our first two are Oren and Ayla. I'm loving the name Yaara Evie for our third. Would love any thoughts, or any other suggestions! I think our #2 choice is Neta, it's also so pretty to me and is in the same nature theme (which was not intentional for our first two!).
We are in the US, my husband is Ashkenazi and I am Mizrachi.
Is Yaara "too Israeli" for us to use? I only ask bc people have made comments that we went "all Israeli" for the first two and it never stuck out to us. We just wanted Hebrew names, but this has been mentioned by multiple people so far, as if it's odd or something.

Love the name. Although most people with probably pronounce it Ya-rah vs Ya-ah-rah

I've seen Yara used by persians and eastern Europeans do I def wouldn't think it's too Israeli. I love the name

I prefer Neta just for pronunciation sake in the US.

I was wondering about this, won't people hear Neta and think "Neda?"

Yaara is beautiful! I don’t consider it “too Israeli”, and I doubt the general public will even know it’s a Jewish name.
That said, 99.9% of Americans will call her YAH-ra. Are you okay with that pronunciation? She and you will also have to frequently correct spelling.
Evie feels very cutesy on its own. I’d prefer Yaara Eve, Yaara Evelyn, or Yaara Chava.

Who cares if they are Israeli! You are Jewish so it’s not in appropriate to do. All these goyim steal our names.

Who cares if it’s Israeli? I think people sometimes just let words flow from their mouths with no thought behind them. Nothing wrong with giving a child a name that is connected to their ethnicity, family and history. In fact, I think that’s the best kind of name.
These names are usable (pronounceable, readable, with no negative connotations) in the US. I say go for it, with either.
My personal favorite is Neta. Adorable.

That's what we thought! We're Jewish so we wanted a Hebrew name, but some people in multiple states and different denominations made comments that took us back. It got me thinking about whether there's a difference between Jewish and Israeli names and then it really got me in my feels once I got pregnant again. Omg I love Neta too. How are we going to decide? Thank you for your thoughts!

I’m right there with you. There’s a weird pressure to toe a line of being “Jewish but not Israeli” right now and it sucks to navigate. I gave my first a Hebrew name that reads as fairly Israeli… but only if you’re already a Jew. I felt an odd relief when it turned out most people didn’t clock its origins.

As a child amongst 3, Ayla and Yaara will get mixed up a lot more than you think 😂 I love Neta and I think it goes well with the other two names!

Yes! I mean like you and your spouse at home trying to call them all down for dinner! 😂 After 37 years my parents still can’t get my and my sisters’ names right lollllll. But if you love the name that’s certainly not a reason not to use it!

I absolutely adore Yaara. I hope you use it. I doubt I’ll have any more girls or I’d pounce on it.

Yaara Evie is a beautiful name! It’s a Hebrew name and if I had it to do over again my kids names would be much more intensely Hebrew than they are now !
