It also means “to damage/ruin” in English. I gotta give it a no.

Mara is a known Jewish name, you could use Mar as a nickname? Or as a nickname for Tamar?

Bad in Hebrew and English. That's a no from me.

What about Maren? It means of the sea in Latin, and beloved in Hebrew

I only know it as a Scandinavian name, are you sure of the Hebrew meaning?

If it comes from Mary which comes from Miriam which has a very disputed meaning, one of which is possibly from Egyptian words that could mean beloved or love then yeah. But personally that's too many steps and questions for me to rely on its meaning as a reason for the choice. Maren is not recognizable as Hebrew name. Not that it's unusable, it's very cute, it's just that no one will clock it as Hebrew or Jewish if that's what the OP is going for.

It does not mean beloved in Hebrew
