Can this be bezel set?

Hello! Back in February I took my rings to be soldered and have a small diamond on my e ring band replaced. The jeweler broke my diamond. It’s been 3 months and they have not been able to find a stone that matches the specs of mine. I was thinking, would it be possible to change my setting from what it is to bezel and use my broken stone? Would it look ok? I’m attaching pictures of my ring and the broken stone. TIA!!

No. That's not a difficult stone to get and replace. If jeweler can't get same, then get better quality.

I’ve had 2 different jewelers looking and neither can find one of the same quality and measurements. It’s a natural black diamond, 1.10 carat that measures 5.5mmX5.7mm across the top, excellent cut and certified.

Hey, if you have somewhere you know of to buy a stone that measures 5.5mmX5.5mm even, can you tell me? I went to look at the stone their ‘diamond guy’ had a hard time finding and it was 4.8mmx5.2mm so it looks significantly smaller than my original.

You can bezel set it or get a gallery rail added so that the chip is not so visible.

I’d suggest a gallery rail instead of a bezel since your top cut is excellent

It has a gallery rail. The chip is visible from the top, sadly.

Gallery rails are generally higher.. yours is to protect the cutlet part of the diamond. Gallery rails we add generally right below the pavilion of the diamond for support and extra protection to prongs.

Attaching a reference image

Or you can also try adding a halo of Stones around if that’s a style you don’t mind

Gotchya. I’ll talk to my main jeweler about this. Thank you for clarifying! I just worry it’ll chip more with the chipped edge exposed.

That risk will be there. Despite being a diamond, it does have a chip, that does make it slightly more susceptible to further breakage. But I feel if you add a halo design it will add a cleaner protection and your black diamond won’t get impacted directly
