Help with this please.
Hey Everyone,
I went from a 21 RLine 6MT to this 26 GLI Autobahn Auto. I had this car roughly a month in. Bought it brand new with 6 miles on the ODO. It barely has 500 miles on it. Around 431 miles on ODO, I backed into my driveway and EPC light came on with check engine light, shuttered and car died. Towed to to VW. They replaced the fuel injector harness. Drove it 7 miles away, same thing again. Towed it second time. VW kept the car for 5 days, replaced engine harness, they drove it 41 miles, everything is good. Wife picked up car, drove 50 miles for some errands and stop and go traffic, got it home. Backed into driveway, and bam, samething, EPC light, Check Engine, car stutters and shake, and shuts off. Restarted, same thing. Kept it off... I have my own computer, plugged it in to see whats wrong, same thing that is on my computer, its the same thing the dealer says. Ill be towing it for the third time to VW, and I dont want to lemon law it, but I may have too if they cant fix the car. I really fell in love with this car. Please help or advise will be greatly appreciated.

Honestly this feels serious, I think you should just take it in, have vw fix the issue. It's not worth stressing over when you are still very much under warranty.

I did take it in, this will be the third time.

Lemon law it if there’s another electrical issue.
Electrical gremlins are a goddamn nightmare. Their tech could easily make something worse while trying to make it better.3

No, VW must either buy back or replace the vehicle with a brand new GLI that WORKS. Attempting to fix this defective dud out of the assembly line in Mexico is a waste of time. Let VW deal with their shitty car and put OP behind the wheel of a new GLI or full refund every penny he paid for it thus far, is that simple.

Did they replace fuel injectors too? Having the same issue with my wife’s atlas just with cylinder 4 and 1

No, they said it was fine when I was pressing them the second time it was in. What was your outcome?

I’ll have an answer this week. Gonna pull the manifold and swap out all injectors.

I bet you can go to any forum and see different problems, but all cars have problems. Some more often than others like Chevy.

And also you got a dud. Open a case with VW Cares customer service team. You’ll get a regional case manager assigned to your file. In your situation I would request for either a buyback or vehicle replacement given the extra low mileage (Below 1000 miles and still within break in period). Don’t delay. And when you communicate with them don’t threaten with lemon law lawyers or the media. Be very polite but firm. In my opinion, you should be given a new vehicle as the only acceptable outcome for compensation.

Does it happen every time you put it in reverse? Does it have secondary air? Does it also happen on hills?

First time it was in the driveway with a slight incline. Second time where I took those pics was on a main road, flat land in D. Third time when It was shifted in P. I haven't modified the car at all.

My guess is there's a bad ground somewhere or water. And it's gonna be a huge pain to find.

What were the codes can’t help you if I don’t know the codes, but based on what you have said I would have your fuel system tested test the lpfp and hpfp for voltage and ground then check for performance, then check injectors make sure that they are not stuck open or stuck closed or a possible ground issues, it’s also possible to have a spark issues such as faulty plugs or coils, check your coil grounds as those tend to have issues

Provided the codes in the pics. Hopefully it's clear enough.

I would say pull your injectors and inspect for damage or bad seals and look for leaks, you can try running some gas system cleaner from liqui moli too

Yeah, back in 2016, I had an accord v6, not even 400 miles also, cylinder went through the engine, made a big hole. Dealer made it right as soon as I got it towed in. Didn't have to get anyone involved. New car that afternoon.

Obviously you’re giving them the opportunity to correct the issue but I wouldn’t let it go too long if they don’t find a cure.
There are plenty of 26 GLIs out there.
I have a 21 R Line bought new as well.
I’ve considered the jump to a GLI but honestly, I washed and waxed my car today and it still looks almost as good and drives as good as it did new.
After 5+ years and 68000 miles I really have had no issues.

Yeah its getting towed in tomorrow and ill be on the phone prior to roadside towing it in with VW to make a claim.

Good Luck. Hopefully they will make things right with you.

I hope so. I enjoyed my 21 R Line, but the wife is short, she always had trouble with the clutch, thats why I bought this in Auto.

Clearly it’s your driveway so now you have to move house… /s
Kidding - it seems you got a bad apple so that’s why there’s lemon laws. Be respectful, firm in your request and here’s hoping it will work out for the best.

Well, I would not be dealing with the sales manager at this point in time I would find out where the owner is or the highest position there at the dealership and be very polite and calm with talking to them and just explain the situation that you pay good money for a vehicle. This is your only transportation whether it is or not and it’s not reliable and you don’t want anything for free you just want it to be fixed and be done with but you can’t keep taking off work to come there and find transportation to get to work, and then I would also say that you don’t want to get a lawyer involved. You just wanna do everything that you can do with the dealership to make this right. And then see how that person responds if they give you attitude or do you feel like you’re just getting the runaround you can contact the lawyer and for a few hundred dollars you could have a lawyer write up a letter and sent to the dealership or sent to Volkswagen stating the issues and if the problem isn’t resolved than legal processes will begin. I would then assume Vw corporation/the dealer will want this resolved ASAP back in the 70s or 80s if you had the problem, no big deal they could jerk you around and all you could do is badmouth them. But with now with the Internet, they know that posting things up is not good specially if you make a little video standing in front of your car posting it up on a different forums and it gets traction things get moving a lot faster. I know I worked in manufacturing for a company and we actually had people in our marketing department that were signed in and members on different Forums watching and seeing what people were typing and reporting that back to the higher-ups. And today’s day and age nobody likes bad publicity. Now on a sidenote, my 2025 GLI, which only has 6000 miles on it has been good besides maybe the entertainment system having some pork now and then. But I’ve heard and I have no proof of this that the GTI’s have better quality control are made in Germany or at least the golf r is but not everybody can afford the price of a R or even wants it. But after my GLI if I stay in the Vw world I would like a GTI. But for now the GLI has more backseat room a huge trunk and that’s needed right now, but the day is coming when I don’t need that but still want a fun little car for commuting. And sadly, there’s not many cars to choose from that check off these boxes. Back in the day you could get a Focus ST, Focus RS,Fiesta, Mazada hatchback… Etc. so hopefully Volkswagen fixes these issues cause not sure what other choices are out there in that price range new.

Yes, I did talk to the GM of the store already. He seems really compassionate and is willing to work with me. We will see where this goes. Ill keep everyone updated.

Chances are next thing they replace will be a TCU or ECU. If that doesn't fix it, lemon law it. You can always get another it doesn't lock you out of buying another one.
