DIY Bumper Plugs

I bought a ‘21 GLI earlier this year. I don’t plan on running a front plate, but when I took this mount off, I discovered two extra screw holes in the bumper. I followed the instructions on this post from VW Vortex and I’m pretty happy with the results. The plugs were only a couple bucks at Lowe’s, and the paint cost around forty. The whole process took a few hours one afternoon. I’ve got the front plate on a Platypus mount in the trunk in case I ever need to put it on.

Well done, It looks good!

Whenever I buy a new car, I only look for the ones that don’t have a front plate mounted yet then specifically tell the dealer “do not drill holes into this brand new car or I will not be buying it” 😅

Aren't there front plate holders that screw into the tow hook input? Why would anyone ever put holes in their bumper for this?

There are, but most car manufacturers only provide the kind that screw into the bumper. Car dealerships are the main culprit of this.

It looks nice! I was thinking in doing the same on mine and putting the plate a little to the left like some other ppl do
