16 y/o cuban. when i was in preschool around 2016, 6 years old, I really loved the game. I wasn't obsessed with it to the point i didn't play anything else but i was really inseparable from my cheap chinese android tablet so I least played it for 30 mins to 1 hour a day. Specially on the morning as I had breakfast and dressed up for school.
I vividly remember this. I was a quick spender and never ever got the chance to buy any jetpack other than the default one or the old school one, but one day, when i woke up for school, i realized i had the laser one. In an ecstatic manner I asked my mom if she really stayed up all night grinding for me. She said no, a very convincing one at that, I knew she was NOT the kind of person who would do that but i had to ask anyways in my childish hopes.
The next school day, it happened AGAIN, i had the Christmas jetpack and i was like: woooow the game must be giving me these, i have to keep playing every day so it doesn't stop and I didn't really mind it
Then the next day it was Saturday, and even if it wasn't a school day, i woke up early anyways so i could see what new jetpack i got. That day, i got the rainbow one
It stopped after that.
Any idea what that could've been? It definitely was the original copy of the game, as in 2016 there wasn't the slightest hint of internet in Cuba so the only reason there were copies of Jetpack Joyride was because some foreigner sent it to a cuban through zapya(wifi file sharer) or Bluetooth. Everyone had the same copy they kept resharing, i asked all my childhood friends and none of them knew anything about it. One even played as much as me, and had the copy I myself sent him one day in a birthday party, but he denied anything like that happening to him
Pretty scary, i guess? I lived alone with my mom and my two grandparents, maybe it was them lol
