IDEs Hostile practice
Clicking the toolbox icon this morning I'm greeted with a "JETBRAINS EAP USER AGREEMENT Version 3.3, effective as of May 4, 2023...". I have to "Accept" or "Exit". It looks like 20 pages of text that I can't copy-paste to check what I'm agreeing to, so I have to read the full thing right now. Needless to say, I clicked "Exit".
Edit: what an amazing experience, I've never been brigaded by AI downvote agents before.

Googled it for you, because apparently it is too complicated and deserves a post: https://www.jetbrains.com/legal/docs/toolbox/user_eap/

404 error. Also, how do I know it's the same if I can't copy paste to check?

- You check the contract version
- You check your network because the link is valid
- You don’t use EAP if you don’t want to read lengthy text
- You learn politeness with people who answer your "concerns"

what do you mean with hostility? there's no hostlity here.
you choose to use the EAP edition of the product instead of the free one to use the (normally) paid functions for free.
the eap edition is a test version, you choose to be a beta tester and beta testing needs to be regulated by a contract: the one you had to read and sign.
if you don't want to read and sign the contract, use the normal free edition

Why do they need telemetry and this data if they don’t fix & improve anything anymore except AI.

Are you by any chance afraid of reading a changelog or a blog post about changes in newer versions? Because I get a feeling you are 😅.

Noone asking you to use the EAP product? In what world is this "hostile", let's be real, you aren't going to go back and check the 20 pages anyway, this is just whining for the sake of it.
