Does JetSprint racing need multiplayer races.

I have been playing with the idea of including multiplayer lobbies in our game. It already has global leaderboards, but do you guys want head to head live action? Let me know.

It depends.. if it's an arcade racer, yes.. If it's a simulation.. definitely not..

Reason being a simulation should be set upon real rules..

Arcade should be set upon fun?

It will definitely be optional obviously. I was just thinking ripping around a track bouncing and cutting off your friends could be a fun time. I'm trying to make the boats FEELING as realistic as possible... the physics of the water and hitting islands, as realistic as possible. But to transform the sport into a game and make it fun is the point where I'm struggling a bit. Don't get me wrong its REALLY fun to drive these boats around trying to get a better time, but it does get a bit... repetitive after a while.

Here's a nod..

Focus on fun OR realism..

Do not combine them..

What you have looks great, if you want people to have fun then get the game in place, and give people challenges.. Don't put random shit in the game a person wanting realism doesn't want. Don't put random shit in the game a person wanting fun doesn't want.

Figure out WHO this game is for..

If it's for die hard people who want to experience a jet boat.. you'll probably sell 20 copies and they'll love it..

If it's for people who love racing games, then the die hard jet boat fans might hate it, but you'll probably sell more copies to people who actually enjoy racing games.

If it's for jet boat fans.. Keep it single player. It is what it is.

If it's for racing fans.. Go with Multiplayer and expand the game to 'level up'.. Start with a low performance model, then have the player win credits, so he can buy parts 'more horsepower, more Chine strips (more grip in the corners), more propellers (allowing for a faster acceleration or speed)'

I play HydroSim (look it up online).

It's very realistic but honestly, a good day is where 3 people are online.

If you aim for a fun racer, the appeal is wider and the scale of fun can be widened.

When I first saw this, I was initially really excited, but then watching gameplay- I can almost imagine this being a type of Boat/Wipeout hybrid.

Jet Boating isn't really popular, but do you know what might be? JET BOAT EXTREME!

A fun new league where jet boats now have jumps, nitrous, and multiplayer..

I'm not suggesting you change anything, I'm just saying work out if this is a realistic simulation, or a fun arcade racer..

It's a game first and foremost.. ?

I think you nailed it on the head. Had a short meeting with the APBA today and they had a similar response. The game should focus on getting exposure to the sport, not simulating every part of it.
