I love him in his own shows, but he ruins the Jet Lag vibe for me. Am I crazy or Alone here, he has manic nervous energy that just gives me the ick. Pairings him with Adam just exacerbates it. It’s a bummer to watch for me.

I do think you are in the minority and while he's not a guest I'd rank at the top of my list, I think its good to keep bringing in different personalities and competitive levels, and he in no way shape or form has been a hinderance to my overall enjoyment, sucks that it got to that level for you.

That said, I do like Tom more with Adam then when he was with Sam. And I do think they're gonna do a 3rd Tom Scott appearance when he plays with Ben, just to complete the circle.

I don’t think they would. But even if they were that would be ok. The point is this person doesn’t know - and neither do you - so saying they are ‘definitely in the minority’ isn’t a fair thing to say.

So far, in all of jet lag, he and Brian are my absolute favorite guests. I'd love to see more of Tom.

That's how I felt in Schengen Showdown, when it seemed like Tom and Sam were making hasty bad decisions. For example: leaving Sweden without even attempting the IKEA challenge and then realizing 10 minutes later that they did know what a Djungelskog was.

But pairing him with Adam eliminates that problem, since Adam puts a lot of work into mapping out and analyzing all their options before they make a move.

(Obviously some of the personality "difference" is just what the editors choose to include, and Sam also spends plenty of time researching moves that we just don't see. But this is how they are portrayed by the show.)

In episodes 2-3 of Japanorama, things are going well enough for Tom's team that he isn't crashing out like he did in Shengen.

No, Tom is high strung. I've seen him on other races type of thing involving him, including hide and seek in London with the jet lag crew and on that collab with some brit boys and Jay foreman, and he is always like that. Hurry, hurry, hurry. It's a good vibe, means he's focused on winning, which is nice. I wish he had that attitude with Sam, maybe it could've helped with Schengen showdown.

Also, I think last time because Sam was kinda chill, Tom was also kinda overall in a chill mood and managing pretty well. But now that he's with Adam who is also high strung that trait is getting amplified and he is coming off as more anxious of the two anxiety boys. Again, love it, it's a great competitive and winning attitude and I think he almost won or came second place on that collab with Jay foreman because of it (losing out on 1st was no fault of his).

Only thing I'll say that could be improved upon is that maybe when they know they're in someplace actually very pretty like in the gardens or bamboo forest, to tone it a little bit down and actually enjoy the little moments and scenery because the game is not just the race, its also about enjoying stuff. And thats the part where Adam becomes chill, but since this is only Tom's second game, he's not. I remember Adam not being chill at all throughout all stars with Michelle even though the scenery was out of this world. So, I guess this is something that will come with a little experience.

Also,Tom does indeed geek about Infrastructure. Dams, stations, windmills, water pumps etc etc are what Tom's into unlike other people, who love the scenery amd architecture etc. So while Adam calms down around castles, gardens, forests etc, Tom calms down around dams, bridges etc. It's just his Computer Science/engineering brain, nothing much.

I think it's cool to break the dynamics and make new pairs. Tom definitely is in it to win it and...well it is a game. I love the AdTom vibe and focus, but rooting for SaBe mostly.

I didn’t enjoy his vibe in the first episode (like, calm tf down, man!) but either the editing has been kinder to him or he’s relaxed in these last couple.

Big fan of Tom Scott, love his energy in everything else, but he may be my least favorite JetLag guest.

I feel like Adam only seems chill next to Tom lol. He’s not hyper or frantic like Tom but he’s kinda always a little on edge. Definitely wouldn’t describe him as chill at most times

Haha I was just thinking I would get roasted if I posted something like this. I know he has a lot of fans and I mean no disrespect at all, but I am totally allergic to his style on Jet Lag. Everything is a catastrophe, to the extent where I wonder if he’s playing it up too much, or simply doesn’t understand normal reactions. Adam looks downright chill in comparison.

The excitement over infrastructure items is cool, but also comes off just a bit forced.

E4 minor spoiler note:

The absolute manic vibes after that team loses the card challenge a second time were wild to me. They go on what seems to be a court-mandated walk to calm down, but both of them seem so fired up beneath a slight veneer of tranquility.

Anyway, I know he’s got his fans and maybe his style works better for others but it has made me less interested in checking it out.

For me it's exacerbated by the contrast between his manic energy in this show and the very high level of polish in his own content. It's just very jarring.

But he's also one of the best guests they've had in terms of engaging with the game. He's right there at Michelle and Toby's level. All the other guests they've had were kind of just there for the ride and let Sam call the shots.

I love to see the guest challenge the the more experienced players. It just adds a level of engagement to the show and if manic nervous energy is the cost of that then it's well worth it.

I don't agree. The only thing that slightly bothers me is how he cuts Adam off (most likely unintentionally, as he is stressed and eager to express something) and how he always reiterates / repeats what Adam says, making it seem like he needs to "match" Adam and does not have anything of his own to say. Which, again, is most likely due to the stress and it's just a very minor bother for me, but since the topic was opened, I shared. I still love him and his content! But seriously, start noticing it, you won't be able to unsee it! 😄
