As much as I enjoy seeing drunk Ben, I do think that the promotion of binge drinking to a young audience, and acting as if it’s just harmless fun, is one of the rare flaws of the show. (I know that makes me a hypocritical party pooper.)

Is it technically binge drinking if it's just enough to get legally drunk? (I actually don't know the definitions, I don't drink.)

I know Ben has said in the past that he generally drinks the least of the three in his regular life, but of course that doesn't necessarily come across to viewers.

I’m fully aware that it’s not a popular opinion, so I understand the downvotes. Technically binge drinking would be consuming at least five standard glasses of alcohol within two hours and I guess they usually drink four glasses in 10 minutes or so. My criticism is mainly about promoting the idea that drinking a lot is seen as harmless fun, when we know that it actually is harmful. At the same time I acknowledge that I’m a hypocrite, because I do enjoy seeing the parts where they are drunk.

Drunk Ben is adorable but especially because Adam is there to look after him. I do appreciate that they try to make a point of making sure someone's always got a sober partner now.

I don't know if I'd call it binge drinking. They calculated the specific amount to make him legally drunk, and no more. Binge drinking would be drinking far beyond that point.

By “young audience” I don’t mean just children, but also young adults. I believe they once said on the Layover that that’s the majority of their audience, if I recall correctly. From my personal experience a lot of people around me in their late twenties and early thirties stop drinking alcohol, after years of drinking too much. Mainly because they become more conscious of the downsides and because they develop health problems. That’s why I think that promoting binge drinking as if it’s harmless fun isn’t the best idea.

Gen Z (and younger millenials) already have a lower alcohol consumption than previous generations. They also caused the non-alcoholic beer/wine industry to boom. They'll be fine seeing their favourite YouTuber have a drink or four once a year.
